Platinum One: QF cabin crew and ground staff not aware of status codes

Wow! Out of ~80 Y flights as FFPL in the last 2 years I've had a greeting maybe 3 times.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

+1
(LHR-SIN sector (747), there was a FA handing out champagne in Y, I didn't see a drop of it...)

I'm aware of the new Platinum one level (being one :D) but this is the first time I've seen "Chairmans One" referred to - is this a Chairmans lounge member who actually flies a lot?

I thought that there was only Bronze, Silver, Gold, Plats, Plat 1's and CL's. Seems like there is a CL1 level now too.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that crew and CSM's have been briefed on Platinum One and two new codes to be able to recognise Platinum One members on board. But as with any new program change sometimes this can take a little while to move through the business. This is mainly because crew spend a lot of their time overseas and travelling.

Bear with us, we are completely across this. And we are also aware that Platinum One is currently not appearing on boarding passes. This will be in effect from December.

Looking forward to meeting some of you at the event next week.

Cheers,
Red Roo

Thanks for the clarification Trev on this topic - seems reasonable. Now about that priority boarding....

Got to say that I very rarely get greeted by name as a Plat - last flight Sunday night from Brisbane and the CSM was great but the crew member in Economy ( 1 off) was appalling - to the point where I have now booked the next 2 flights on Virgin and would be unlikely to return. Also see no point in giving any feedback to QF as not really sure they are interested!

One unhappy customer.........

I think I am one of those that really doesn't need the personal greeting. Sure it is nice, but I like to avoid any publicity. But anyway, Qantas is a tad hit and miss, but I think they are getting far more hits than misses on recent international travel. I do a lot of LAN flights and invariably I get the CSM appear during the flight for a chat. As a One World Emerald - not in the LAN program. Very professional. With QF tends to be a quick greet immediately prior to arrival in Aus, with the ceremonial handing over of the Express Card. My problem with the QF method is that this system is only a perk to the show-offs. I would appreciate even more a very subtle greeting and Express Card handover. Just me :)

The new codes that are now appearing on the on board passenger manifest for crew and in QF's Amadeus/Altea for ground staff are:

CLPO = Chairman's Lounge Platinum One and PLPO for Plat One, in addition to the other codes already in use FFCL / FFPL / FFGL / FFSL / FFBR.

You mean FFPO?

Crew on my flight thought it was a typo.

Got the package today. No bag tags and the card looks just like a normal plat card with red writing (did that really take Marc Newson to design??)

Red Roo, asking politey, perhaps there could be a comment on something more important like LHR T5 access, or priority baggage not working, or priority boarding?? Rather than a code for the crew which will be variably used to greet pax by name.

I'd take any of my examples before worrying about a personal greeting!

One further data point. I consistently get an in-seat personal greeting on CX as FFPL/OWE. Never had one on QF as FFPL.

I DO NOT understand why Qantas can never get their inflight customer service correct? CX get this spot on - and I was most impressed the last time i flew with them in Y. I really do not understand why Qantas staff treat their WP members just like any other in Y. Granted it is not a published benefit, but still, it builds a lot of goodwill to get the extra personal touch. The CX experience has made me reconsider my need to fly QF and to fly with CX more often, especially since I will be based in HK. I also believe that it is not very fair that QF WPs get better treatment on CX whereas a CX MPD will get comparable worst service on QF!
