Just took the plunge on the platinum charge card. Spoke with call centre as was having a problem with the online app. They confirmed the "conversion" would still involve another Veda check as it's a "new application". Ill try my luck once the platinum charge card arrives for "conversion" without Veda check and report on my experience.

How long has it taken for other members to get their charge card after approval? Approval text says 7 business days. Hoping to get it sooner to take on my Next trip away. I'm in Sydney.

Thought I'd report back on this. Amex are posting me the reserve application. The person I had on the phone said it is possible to convert without a new credit application from Velocity Platinum to Platinun edge but otherwise no "conversions" we're possible to the reserve without a new application and a ping on our credit file.

Thought I'd report back on this. Amex are posting me the reserve application ....

My application form (two attempts) never arrived by mail. In the end it was emailed, when I kept complaining. All good in the end.

Does anyone know if Amex will allow me to swap over my Reserve companion card to an Edge card? I usually buy about 2k worth of Coles gift vouchers per month and have it reimbursed through work. The supermarket points earn for Edge is 3/$ instead of 1/$ with the reserve card.

So glad I got my edge companion back in the day!

Amex allow 2CCs and (at least) 1 charge, but not 3 CCs

I've got 2 of each which they've told me is the max. Any new applications need to close an existing charge or credit card to make way for the new product.

I thought I'd report back on my experience. I've only recently got the platinum charge card. I called Amex last week and I spoke with someone who agreed it didn't make sense to have to apply again for the reserve if I already have velocity platinum I want to convert to reserve for same limit, etc.

Said would give it a go and request conversion but wasn't confident about it. Just logged into my Amex app and can see platinum reserve where velocity platinum used to be and taken up my existing account balance and payment.

Stoked they were able to do it. Thought might benefit some one else who wants to avoid an unnecessary credit inquiry.

I was speaking to AMEX yesterday and whilst I've only recently been approved for the Plat Charge, but they offered for me to apply for the Reserve as a companion. I said I was more interested in the Edge, which the representative understood, but unfortunately he said that wasn't available. Pitty...

Yes, no-one has reported recent success with that. It's the Reserve as the companion.

Another member has confirmed that Amex registered an enquiry when doing the exact same thing... hope you have better luck.

Just re-checked my Veda alerts - can only see one inquiry for October - assuming each inquiry generates an "alert". However, the one application cost me 200 points off my credit score. 2 inquiries in the one month might be behind it.
