Hey guys

I am with MECU bank which has a bad exchange rate. Currently the true exchange i 80 euro cents to the dollar; they exchange for 76 euro cents + 2% surcharge => 7% surcharge.

I am too late to apply for the 28 degrees card

any other options?

I have an amex and woolies mastercard
thanks!!!

My suggestion is to enquire with your bank. YOu can often withdraw direct from your ATM for a small fee. I used HSBC and their exchange rate was great and withdraw fee was a couple of dollars PER transaction (up to the local ATM daily limit). I of course withdrew from a HSBC ATM there, which cuts away some additional fees.

I cannot recall the exact mechanics but I'm fairly sure on a RTW I was able load my CC up with credit and withdraw cash using it, and avoid ATM withdrawal fees. That was with ANZ, and they were the ones who advised me I could do this. Doesn't help with exchange rates though.

Maybe rush into citibank and sign up for their transaction product, and hope you get the Visacard in time?
