Next April I have booked ADL - SYD (QF J) connecting to SYD - HKG (CX J). The first leg leaves ADL at 0600 arriving 0825 and CX leaves at 1010. All of this on points.

I'm getting a little concerned about the "short" connection time in SYD (weather, traffic etc), and we've decided to travel on the day before and stay overnight in Sydney - just to be sure!

This means that I need to change the first leg booking. Can I simply do that on-line through My Bookings at no cost and assuming that there are U Bucket seats available? Is it that easy or am I missing something? I ask here before I "have a go" in case I do something wrong in playing around.

As always, thanks in advance for the help.

It all depends on your booking conditions. I would imagine you would be up for the change fee at the absolute minimum (5000 points from memory).

There is nothing to stop you from calling the call centre and seeing if they can work their magic for you.

I can't answer your specific question, but my wife and I went to Europe a few years ago in late March leaving from Sydney. We flew up the day before. Very wise, as Melbourne was fogbound the next morning and nothing was moving. Go the day before.
