Points : Cathay Pacific or QFF

Hi,
I am a QFF member and seek to fly with Qantas domestically and Internationally where possible. (Usually only fly internationally 1-2 times per year)
This month I have to fly Cathay Pacific to China due to the trip I am making. Would it be more worthwhile seeking Qantas points (One World) or seek Asia Miles points (I do belong to Asia Miles) I anticipate a few more Asia based holidays in the coming years. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Depends on the fare class of the cathay flight - A single letter like Y,M, J etc.
Check the fare class against the airline earning table for Cathay here: https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/flying/airline-earning
If the letter isn't listed then the flight will probably not earn.
That the first step. things can get a bit complex depending on other factors

It is generally easier to get status with Qantas if that's what you want. For points, you will get more with Qantas if flying Qantas domestically. It is a lot easier to get points with credit cards purchases.

I am trying to book an economy flex CX flight. But when i get to the next page, the fare class is shown as economy(M). According to QFF, CX economy flex is defined as class Y. is this correct? Thanks in advance.

If the booking says it's M then it is M. There may be more than 1 class for economy flex.

Pretty much as per below, Y can be used as a generic term for economy. But within that generic Y class there are a whole range of fare classes. To further confuse things Qantas applies a grouping label to types of economy. So on CX Qantas only consider Y to be "flexible economy" for QFF earning purposes. That Qantas label has nothing to do with the CX label , as you've seen. So Qantas consider Economy to be BHKLMV. So an M fare from CX will earn Qantas points. For Hong Kong to Sydney for example M will earn 2250 points and 15 status credits plus any status bonus if applicable.

At the link I gave you need to first check the "Qantas categories on partner airlines" table to find the Qantas earning category, then check the "earning on partner airlines" table for that category. 3rd and 4th sections respectively.
