Points upgrade on overbooked flight?

Sadly no such luck serfty - checkmytrip only shows the confirmed segments, no <upgrade> waitlisting. Will check again later in any case. ...
Maybe they have not process this late night flight yet or perhaps they have changed their system recently.

FWIW, I had an upgrade declined for a LONE4 flight last June.

I only flew the final segment last week and the PNR has now been exorcised from the GDS"s. Until then C/M/T look up would still show the "Waitlist" segment.

Well so much for any of that - they also gave away our thrice confirmed aisle/window seats for two muddles and told us to take it up with the GA. Run of poor luck!

What Qantas will try to do is sell every seat on the aircraft if they can.

As the flight get closer and there are still seats unsold in the premium cabins they will sell that capacity for WHY fares, initially the higher fares but often leading up to the flight some lower fares, especially if the premium cabins is/are really undersold.
Is this true for international flights only? I don't think Qantas does very much to try and sell every seat possible at the last moment on domestic flights.

I flew to the US on Tuesday and my upgrade request did not go though the usual waitlist segment. Indeed the reservation did nothing

I rang reservations on the morning of the flight and they said that the upgrade computer system had been playing up over the last few days.

They agreed to process the upgrade and deducted the points accordingly.

Not sure if the system has been fixed although know of someone who flew Wednesday and she did get her upgrade via the normal Waitlist and later confirmed segment in the reservation.

Hopefully all upgrade computer problems are fixed as if this is raised with checkin staff they don't understand Qantas's upgrade system and simply churn out the company line "sorry your upgrade request was unsuccessful".

Thanks for the heads up - I have a request for QF94 next week.

Methinks the recent promotion to allow point upgrades from O, N and Q classes may have uncovered some previously unknown shortcomings of the system. Perhaps due to volume.

It was interesting the online request facility was basically shut down for the last day or two.
