Points upgrades on V Australia

I take it that by the lack of response from velocity, vaustralia will not be a part of the points upgrade...

it's a shame!!

I did read on the terms and conditions though that they allow points upgrades to premium or business with partner airlines...are they referring to pol & pac blue?

or delta, etihad etc...

looks like ill either be getting the flight centre vouchers or sitting on the points in the hope for some future use...
I would give them some time to respond before I pinged them for lack of response.

Agreed. They've just done a major overhaul of their FF program. Give them a few minutes to sort out their International FF program.

Also there is no V Australia from Jan next year. I suspect that the processes will eventually include them too. Obviously not there yet though.

I was a bit critical wasn't I...

I take it back!!

Really no vaustralia from Jan? thats news to me...

so what is it going to be, virgin australia...if so then its captured by the points upgrade under virgin australia?

Yep, all brands are becoming Virgin Australia. I have no better idea about the second part of your question that you do BUT i think there's a strong chance that it will change at that time.

I'm very keen to find this out as well. I've been shifting travel to DJ of late, and I've enjoyed the service as a Gold and its pretty clear that DJ staff are engaged with the business vision and for the most part genuinely focused on service. I'll happily take up the status match offer and use the benefits.

All good stuff, but whether I can go all the way and move to Velocity as my primary FF program - and probably therefore whether I can retain Velocity Plat - will depend on the availability of both domestic and international points upgrades to both PE and J.

The availability of this benefit is the biggest reason to maintain my QFF status, and I use it for both business and family travel. I have a feeling that upgrades for WP's is where QFF will fight back against the velocity plat offer.

If Velocity can offer points upgrades on flights to the US, UK and Asia at a reasonable redemption rate, with seat availability equal to or better than QFF, then I'm ready to make the move.

Anyone got any further updates on this? Flying next week and keen to better understand how / if upgrade is possible. TIA.

I have a DJ flight in a couple of weeks, Melb-Syd, booked a Flexi fare and have no status with DJ.

Terms and conditions on the website for upgrades as follows

10 "Upon first verifying that a premium redemption seat is available online, members may call to request an upgrade at anytime up to 24 hours prior to scheduled departure time. Upgrades will not be accepted any less than 24 hours prior to travel."

Rang and was told that this term is incorrect and I am unable to upgrade until 24hrs before the flight.

Who is correct?

I'm still hanging for this and really hope it becomes a part of the new Virgin Australia brand, I got trips to do and points to burn

I would say you are correct as I have upgraded on points for the following sectors and they are being flown next OOL SYD,SYD TSV & TSV MEL.

My status is Platinum but i used points and have also upgrade a non Velocity Member

Hi,

I am a Platinum member and I was under the impression that I could upgrade with V Australia (flying to Abu Dhabi) using my points. However when I called the Velocity centre they told me this is impossible.

Does anyone know anything about this? Its very frustrating to see that my points are kind of useless for any upgrades for my international flights... who cares to upgrade to Melbourne?!!

Thanks,

long haul upgrades are still WIP, given 6900 points + $150 will get you J transcontinental in Aus the points have some value ;)

Is there any more news regarding this? Or are we on hold until DJ's new booking system comes into use in a few months time?

Also, it was just a myth that Plat FF'ers could use points to negotiate an upgrade for a long haul international flight, correct? I hate repeating myths - I just wanted to squash this but also offer a chance for someone to refute it in case they had actually carried out such an upgrade...
