Hello, does anyone have previous experience of crediting points to other programs after using classic upgrade rewards on flights? More specifically I'm looking at upgrading from Y to PE and crediting to AS. Will points still be credited as the original booking class, upgraded PE or nothing at all?

You won't receive credits on award upgraded flights. The original booking stands. If that too was an award then you will not get any. You can also only get award upgrades on Qantas planes.

Agree. You only ever earn points on the ticket (or part of the ticket) that is actually paid for. Points will be awarded for your original booking class - maybe if your upgrade to PE comes through you might be able to change your crediting FF program before departure for the Y points that you will receive - usually best done at the lounge on entry and after you have received your boarding pass showing the upgrade.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for everyone's input here. What worries me is that the upgrade will cause changes to the booking class (I'm not sure if QF has a booking class for upgrading to PE/ if the booking class will change to Z (the booking class for PE award booking AFAIK), and hence no credit at all on partner programs since that will be the new "travelling booking class".

Your booking class will not change, just the seat, assuming you get an upgrade at all. I have done points upgrades from Saver & Flex fares and also had op-ups from Sale and they always credit correctly.

The Flying Brick's advice is perfect, if it can be achieved, only try change your FF program AFTER you get the upgraded boarding pass. I would love to know the result either way.

Thanks for the input. sounds fair enough. Seems like I worry too much then!

Points upgrades are processed as a class change in the booking but they then link that the original ticket coupon which has the class that you originally paid for. Points are credited based on what class the ticket coupon says.
