Body parts have been found across a road and on top of a car near LHR - believed to possibly be the remains of a stowaway who fell to their death.

There are actually a few reports of people surviving the trip in the landing gear.

That article reports a 17% survival rate from the FAA. Likely the actual figure is a bit higher as there might be some that got through without being detected.

I think most of us sympathise with the person that has passed on but I don't think we can really can empathise with the person that has passed on, but I would guess most of us cannot empathise, because most of us will never be in the position of the departed thus we can only really sympathise with the departed.

Actually, I first heard about wheel-well stowaways during primary school. One of the books we read under our curriculum contained the story (similar write-up to Altitude.org | Survival at Extreme Altitude)

Yes it does highlight the lengths that people will go too, but it also highlights the ignorance of people who believe that this is an option that might succeeed. Of course the problem is, they probably only hear the stories from those who are succesfull, the dead can't tell their story too much.
