I am now travelling PER-SYD-SFO-BNE-PER on United Y later this month after changing the ticket (earning a small flight credit) to eliminate going via Singapore.

I have purchased Premier Access for $USD24 on the SYD-SFO flight.
I am also offered to purchase Premier Access for USD$66 on the SFO-BNE flight.

Is there a reason for the large difference in cost between the two flights?

I have looked at the UA website but was unable to find an answer.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Variable pricing at its finest.

I guess the assumption is that priority security has a lot more value in the US than it does in Australia.

Premier Access comes with 4 benefits:
- Priority Boarding (Group 2 boarding) - Uniteds boarding is explained here https://www.united.com/en/us/fly/travel/airport/boarding-process.html
- Fast track security (not offered in Sydney hence part of the cheaper price)
- Priority check-in (not a huge benefit in Sydney as they often use kiosks)
- Priority bag handling

Pricing as mentioned above is variable but also worth noting that because fast track security isn't offered it's cheaper.

Thanks for clarifying exactly what is offered at Sydney Airport. Much appreciated.
