People have said to me previously that glasses are cheaper to get in Singapore than in Australia even with Private Health Extras, and they're also really quick.

I'm looking at getting a pair in Singapore in December on 17 hour stopover. If there is truth to the rumour, do people have a suggestion where to get them that is close to the MRT, noting that I also need a prism (thus require a grind)?

Cheers!

I think you won't have time, and to be frank it's a waste of time, paying more than $50 delivered and you are being ripped off, I have long since given up on locally sourced glasses, using clearly contacts who often have two for $99 specials or better.

Fair enough - can't do contacts though as I need the grind for the prism. Will look around.

I used to get glasses and contacts in Malaysia, but with health fund rebates now I don't bother. Never done it in SIN - it'll probably be worth your while jumping over the border to JB though I imagine.

Agree about lenses and such, but I think you will find frames a get deal less expensive outside of Australia. And a great deal more durable (if you are not fashion oriented or need to always have the latest and greatest)

YMMV especially if you are wandering

IMHO I would rather purchase from Aust as if you have any problems you can get them easily sorted.
