Priority Baggage frustrations - QFi arrivals.

Did it have one of those Orange OneWorld priority bag tags attached to it:

If not, I reckon it would be difficult for a baggage handler particularly at an outstation airport in the US to recognize that it is priority and needs to be loaded last. There could of course be other factors that influence when your bag is loaded. For instance, did you have a long layover? If so, chances are your bag was queued up to be loaded first. Were there other passengers on the flight with onward connections who needed their luggage to be offloaded first to ensure a safe connection?

Regardless, as someone who holds status on all the major alliances (OneWorld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance) irrespective of what airline you fly what is a universal is priority baggage does not guarantee your bag will be amongst the first out.

For me, what's really troubling is why it takes an hour to get all of the bags offloaded. What kind of operation are they running at SYD? It should take 30 minutes tops, to offload the bags!

Hi-Vis Orange or Yellow is the same in every language…. does it really need to say OneWorld to work?

Delta or maybe Southwest (I forget) has a 20min bag guarantee. Don’t get your bag in 20mins and you get miles or a voucher.

EDIT: it’s Delta and Alaksa and you get $25

Aussie airlines have all contracted the same firms to manage the bags. Doesn’t matter if you fly QF or VA. Its some underpaid casual working for Menzies or Swissport who couldn’t give two coughs.

That’s it … and it’s for everyone. Not just priority.
Very interesting policies although I should note that there are limitations to the policy. For instance, Delta says it's only valid for US domestic flights (wouldn't help the traveller arriving from Australia). I don't know about others but rarely have I had to wait more than 15 minutes for my bags on a QFd flight. That being said it's a nice gesture.

You've obviously not flown into PER on QFd then. I've never waited less than 15 minutes for bags to commence :(

I have flown into PER several times, albeit with Qantas' luxury brand, JétStar. Never had to wait more than 15 minutes for bags with them!
