Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

With two lanes and two staff members, they should process both queues simultaneously. Only when priority queue is empty can second staff member process pax from the regular queue. If someone new appears in priority queue, they should be processed immediately.

Overall, this is what Virgin Australia do. QF just don't care.

Well I suspect air traffic control in SYD would have seen flying pigs this afternoon on their RADAR!

Boarding QF569 SYD - PER on a 737 there is one very long line, The priority line is being policed to enter it. Boarding had already commenced as I arrived from the lounge. But would you believe it, both scanning machines being used to board the priority line while the regular one was being held back!

I noticed staff holding some paper that was perhaps a procedure list for boarding.

If this is indeed the new procedure then we may actually just have found "the biggest overhaul to QFF in 32 years".

They must have activated another trial in
Sydney yesterday. I was slightly apprehensive queuing at the normal queue yesterday (more pax on priority queue) fearing they would do the trial on my flight. Luckily it was the same shemozzle and I ended up winning. :D

A few recent trips through SYD. No special boarding calls from the lounge but have seen the priority line being checked on entry. Still only the one scanner being used but that may be due to relatively late arrival at the gate.

CNS yet again shines. Not only proper scanning at the gate (anyone in priority lane dealt with first) but also on check-in where we and the the pax in front of us in the priority lane were called up to the Y and bag drop lanes when vacant ahead of a longish line of regular pax. I actually find the failure to do this 95% of the time more irritating than non-priority boarding.
