Hi All,

First time flying CX and am going in to HKG then over to Sapporo. Am looking forward to trying the new Business class they have ! On Expert flyer it shows a lot of blocked seats with X's and some white ones up near the front yet on seat selection i can only pick seats in the back couple of rows! Does CX not give priority seating to one world emeralds like BA etc?

Also, im flying on a 747 with first class on it to Sapporo from HKG, this flight in Expert FLyer shows the first cabin as business class with seats free, howver in seat selection again they are all X'd out.

If CX does recognise QF status maybe it hasnt registered pro / do you need to call?

when flying in Y OWEs can select exit row seats for free by calling.

its worth a try giving them a call, make sure your QFF number is in the booking. unlikely you'll be able to be seated in the F cabin though (i've tried requesting this before!).

I have managed the front couple of rows of J on CX. Is your FF number in expert flyer? The seats may show as blocked on EF but in fact may be occupied.

I've done a handful of flights in J with CX (as a QF Platinum).

Each time I was able to select up to the 2nd row, but no the 1st.

CX definitely does recognise QF status. The only suggestion I have is to double check that your QFF number is in the booking.

I would avoid the front row in any case so you are a little further back.

Thanks guys, I guess this has turned in to somehting that should be in a General Discussion forum , but it seems from reeadings elsewhere that cathay donty give OWE more baggage so it would be 30kg i assume? Gonna have to hope for someone nice as im taking a lot of ski gear with me! haha

Does anyone know on the new business if you enter through the front door or through one thats in between the 2 mini business cabins? I guess getting middle of the main cabin would be best?

Also, has anyone ever sat in F with J service on CX? Some areas i have read say they can put you in F seats only from the check in / lounge others say its been open to them on seat selection, my flight to sapporo from hkg is on a 747 with F seats but J service, but seeing as there is still showing as 9+ j tickets available maybe they dont even open this unless its a full flight?

I have sat in F on a J ticket before from HKG-MNL, I was able to select from Manage My Booking (was denied on another trip when I asked over the phone). Think you're right about them not opening the F cabin unless it's a full flight.

Most times I cannot see the first row in business class.

Generally I like to select 16K for most flights.
