Private Messages

Does anyone know what the go with private messages on this board is? I got an email telling me I had one, the link above said I had one, but when I tried to get it nada, zip, zilch, nothing that looked like a private message.

I know I can't send any, but maybe some of you out there can?

The following are the Qs & As from the FAQ section on Private Messaging, hopefully they'll be of assistance.

I cannot send private messages!
There are three reasons for this; you are not registered and/or not logged on, the board administrator has disabled private messaging for the entire board, or the board administrator has prevented you individually from sending messages. If it is the latter case you should try asking the administrator why.

I keep getting unwanted private messages!
In the future we will be adding an ignore list to the private messaging system. For now, though, if you keep receiving unwanted private messages from someone, inform the board administrator -- they have the power to prevent a user from sending private messages at all.

I have received a spamming or abusive email from someone on this board!We are sorry to hear that. The email form feature of this board includes safeguards to try to track users who send such posts. You should email the board administrator with a full copy of the email you received and it is very important this include the headers (these list details of the user that sent the email). They can then take action.

I had read that, but they don't explain why I got an email telling me there was a private message, a link on the page saying I had 1 new private message, but when I went to look - nothing.

I always get them - do you have some sort of pop-up blocker installed?

(I do not think that this will be the answer though, as I have a pop-up blocker installed, and still seem to get the PM's_.

I've had no probs with sending or receiving private messages in the last few days.

I received on this morning, which I was able to get.

But I am blocked from sending private messages, so I can't reply.

Will put last weeks private message into the mystery bin (not that I know what it was about, or who it was from).

Not sure why you were blocked to send Private Messages. Anyway, I have just unblocked you so you should be able to send them now.

Good detective work, thadocta. I'd think it is more than likely the scenario. Now that the person is a Guest, perhaps that corrupted the access to the PM.

All correspondence to the now-Guest vanished from my inbox and sent folder as soon as he was blacklisted.
