Proportion of members by status tier.

So this might be a bit of an odd one and not sure if anyone has any actual data, but I've been curious as to what percentage of QFFs are at each membership tier.

If anyone has any idea or even just an educated guess, I'd love to hear it.
 
I am ashamed to admit that I cracked a hissy fit at SYD domestic a while ago because the priority queue was longer than the Y. Due to my mature appearance I was deferred to. Sorry fellow passengers.
It may well be that we have a very first world problem. Too many status pax.

If you were travelling during times that many business travellers would be, the priority queue could well be validly longer!

In Canberra, it often is!

It does not help that QF extended status to every Tom, Dick, and Harry due to you know what! It will be interesting to see in 2024 whether this issue resolves itself or if we're in a (excuse the expression) pandemic of DYWKIA!

In terms of how to handle priority check-in lanes, my rule has always been if I'm at the front of the J line, I pick any check-in counter I damn well want. If that means cutting Y passengers off, so be it. They're FoTSG, they can handle it!

I don't think World Platinum status is that popular. Heck, even at my workplace, I'd recommend of those who travel only a handful cracked Gold status (myself included). Everyone else either has Silver status (if anything) or are sensible enough to hold status with another airline.

There are business travellers in Canberra? What business? The hot air trade? Then again, I think our politicians and staffers have a Chairperson's check-in area at CBR, no doubt hidden behind an unmarked door!
 
I don’t think you’ll ever know, but with a large enough sample size of guesses you could take an average! So:

CL/P1 - 1%
WP - 5%
SG - 15%
PS - 25%
NB - the rest.

As an aside, if you were considering not just QFF members, but the general public on each flight, I reckon about 20% of each flight would not be a member of QFF at all.
 
Most people I speak to are not interested in Status
I would say “blissfully unaware” for the occasional travellers. If they understood it better I suspect many would be very interested. They then usually sign up to AFF with the zeal of the recently converted! 😁

But certainly when I was in the corporate world, colleagues who travelled for work were very much aware of the perks that came with SG and WP (both QF and VA). Although many were just happy to get QP or VA lounge membership paid for.
 
Sagely Gold, Prestige Silver and Noble Bronze are the other tiers of the wonderful QFF program.
Don't forget Player 1 (Qantas' publicized top tier status level) not to be confused by someone who is a Chairperson's Club member.

but anyway.. speaking of the "players" (ahem)

Assuming 11m QFF members (I think it's more now? unsure) then 1% is 110,000.

The number of P1's is generally accepted to be under 10,000 - usually 3k-5k is the accepted number, but with extensions and so on we'll give them a bit of inflation/bloat.

so it's closer to 0.1% for P1/CL most likely. Most definitely far, far less than 1%

There was an investor presentation when Joyce first joined Qantas which indicated the number of CL were capped at 7,000 (or 14,000 including partner CLs). If P1s are 10,000 then one would assume 24,000. (c. 0.2%)
