PS to lose priority DOM Checkin

Perhaps one of the few legitimate concerns for QP and PS members after the loss of "priority check-in on domestic" kicks in is when a Dom-Int connection is required.

According to NGCI, Dom-Int connections need to be done at the service desk and not self-served. Whilst J and WP can use the Premium Desk, others will have to crowd at the standard service desk. Especially early in the morning where plenty of people need to fly to SYD or MEL to connect to most QF long-haul services, the lines will be very, very long for these times. PER doesn't see this kind of problem to a certain extent because it is unlikely that someone will book a Dom-Int connection from PER via MEL or SYD (except for perhaps the members of this forum and those going to the Americas).

Not too happy with this change, although I would probably use NGCI when it finally comes in anyway, i'd still like to have the choice to use priority checkin or NGCI, rather than QF forcing me to use it.

I feel less motivated to get to Gold this year, as to get there I will have to use normal checkin everytime I fly til such time I make it to Gold..

'Thanks' QF for making us feel so 'valued', I would have preffered you jack your fares up by a bit rather than screwing with your loyal elite tiers!

QF PS still gets International J check-in queue. It appears to be just Domestic based on the fact that all ports that have J will be converted to NGCI and regional airports never have had premium checkin queues.

Hobart wont be getting NGCI until at least 2012 [if ever] and has always had a premium check in. There is not much equity in the FF system if they remove a benefit from all QC & PS but don't replace it to all.

So I have paid my QP in advance til Oct 2011. But even though I have paid, Qantas now want to not deliver what I have paid for.

Is this not breech of contract on their behalf?

Shh, don't give them any ideas!;)

The rules are not 100% clear but normally when Qantas has different rules for domestic and international the international rules normally apply for domestic connections. So even at an airport like Canberra I would still imagine you could use the Qantas Club/Business class check-in desks.

Nope because one of the conditions is that the terms and conditions may be varied.

Actually, there is clause 4.4 of the T&C that says:

Qantas Club T&C said:
4.4 If Qantas closes a Qantas operated airport lounge in a Member's registered city of residence without replacing it, or amends these Terms and Conditions or the Club Rules in a way that deprives the Member substantially of the intended use of the membership, the Member will have the option of cancelling their membership and receiving a pro rata refund of the membership fee for the remaining period of membership.

If that applies to you then in thoery you should be able to get a refund. But perhaps not a breach of contract.

For the people that 'love it', they are generally non-FF'ers or new FF'ers that have joined up recently to the FF program through the EDR (which is pretty easy to tell due to their FF number, and them handing over their EDR card to check in, obviously not all though).
So they are triallin NGCI in Perth with non-FFers and NBs. Seems a bit strange to do that as non-FFer's won't have the option to use it when rolled out and NBs have to pay for the chipped card.

Those that don't have the chipped card need to use a kiosk to get their BP. They still use the injectors like every other user.

Chipped card users can't use the touch pole and then their card as a BP; that's it.

Are you kidding!! This is common as muck from PER, plus I'm doing this exact thing next month heading to NRT. I've often seen the DOM-INT connections lane three to five deep when passing thru the terminal.

Only three to five deep and you're saying 'as common as muck'? Come on.....

Like my trip last year, $4 for an extra 20 SC, PER-MEL-SIN-FRA

Only PS and above were included in the trial.
