Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Sydney Airport (to Circular Quay)
Fastest - Direct Train - 27 minutes - $16.77 (now $21.54)
Cheapest - 2x Busses - ~1hr 11minutes - $4.71 (now $5.60)
It's not by much, but the cheapest is now the bus to Mascot (350/420 from domestic or 420 from int'l) ($3.20 in peak) and then the train from Mascot to the city ($4.20 in peak). With the $2 interchange discount, that's a total cost of $5.40.
Off-peak works out to be $3.18.
It does involve a 3-4 min walk at Mascot though.

Every time I've taken the Broady 901 there seem to be a lot of locals who thinks it's free
Late last year I was travelling from the airport when some Ticket Inspectors Revenue Protection Officers got on. All but a few PAX got off at the next stop. Some got on there but walked though and off after seeing those in uniform.

The airport bus in Adelaide is free 0c if you got a Seniors card

In Brisbane as well (between 08:30 and 15:30)

So is the Broady route at Melbourne on weekends for seniors. But I guess that's restricted, not general public.

All Metro travel in Melbourne is free Sat and Sun (48hrs) for seniors.

For some reason in MEL its not part of their role
In NSW only Police (particularly the special transport Police) have the power to take any action. Even the fare inspectors and the station staff can do nothing if they are challenged, except call the Police. It is for their own safety, but makes a joke of enforcement of fare evasion.

I'm a bit slow on this one, but I just noticed today that the Launceston Airport Shuttle Bus ceased operating back in April: Home | Launceston Airport Shuttle Bus

I used it once back in 2022 and found it to be reasonably convenient, running to meet each flight as they arrive rather than to a rigid timetable, although according to their website they didn't offer any kind of service at all for the 6am/7am morning departures.

With that service gone, I'm struggling to find any other option to travel to/from LST using public transport. It's quite a significant airport to be completely unserved.

There's various buses that run to the nearby towns of Perth and Evandale, passing within 2km of the terminal, but none of them divert via the airport or have a stop anywhere remotely nearby.

For a regional airport, the distance to the CBD is fairly long (around 13km), so for a round trip it would probably be only marginally more expensive to hire a car for a day than to pay a return taxi/uber fare.

Do the Sydney Airport T-buses have provision to stow luggage under the floor, accessible from the outside like an interstate coach?

Ah ok, I just started looking into this today, it looks like the took away the airport surcharge in May'22.

It would've helped to be able to buy a Metrocard at CHC Airport itself!

Will do. I have a very leisurely arrival and no hurry at all, so thought I'd take the bus rather than taxi/uber into town.
Update on the NZTA website on this:
Canterbury will be the first region to implement Motu Move starting in Timaru and Temuka in early 2025, followed by Greater Christchurch. Rollout will then continue across New Zealand region by region. Before the Canterbury implementation, Motu Move will run a pilot of debit and credit card payments on the Route 29 airport to city bus in Christchurch from December 2024.

For those who go to BNE fairly regularly, it's worth getting on the Airtrain's mailing list as from time to time they offer Return fares for the price of a single (not time limited, you only have to specify the dates).
For those using the every-15-mins T-bus at SYD, don't rely on it if you're in a hurry. The last time I used it Domestic to International, I waited 44 minutes and I wasn't even the first person in the queue.
