Purchase a VA J tkt on SQ or EY?

Doing some research on purchasing a ticket with VA for a return flight in J to LHR and I was just wondering if it's generally more expensive to purchase a VA ticket on SQ than it is on EY.

My wife is going to be traveling to LHR in the new year and tossing up on whether to redeem her an award ticket on EY or on SQ for which I would then purchase a J class ticket for the same flights.

My reason for wanting to purchase a VA issued ticket on VA flight numbers is to clock up eligible sectors for platinum status re-qualification.

SQ will take you to LHR for 190,000 points rtn. You won't get the 15% discount for booking online. You have to ring SQ to book VA metal

Thanks but you missed the basis of my posting in that I want to purchase a ticket, not redeem an award.
