Hi all,

I was flying domestic and checked in a bag using the self service kiosk (with my P1 bag tag). On collecting my bag at my destination in Adelaide the tag had disappeared.

It seems unlikely that it could come off by itself (or even get snagged on something then come off). Has anyone actually had theirs come off? I dont want to sound suspicious but perhaps it was taken off somewhere - I've seen P1 tags on ebay for hundreds of dollars (why I dont understand!). The bag arrived at my destination fine so the tag would have come off either in the plane or in the baggage handling in Adelaide.

I called the airport and they said no one handed one in.

Frustrated as I've had a few P1 bag tags mysteriously 'disappear'!! Anyone else with a similar problem?

You've only lost the tag, the only time ever I had a bag go missing was arriving in Adelaide.

Gday Funky, yes, I had a run of this a couple years ago.

From memory it was one or two virgin tags and a couple of q platinum coasters over a few months. One was transiting through Adelaide from Whyalla I think and another one was at Syd.
Received a phone call one day from a bloke saying he was a pilot and found it on the Tarmac at Syd.

It seems like they can occasionally get caught in the conveyors and get ripped off.
Anyway, rang Q to get a couple of replacements and have had no trouble since.

I've had one go missing when some other damage was done to the bag. Replaced without question

Thanks for the reminder! Just rang to request some replacements. Under 2 minutes from answer to done. 2 re-issued no questions. Very easy!

But how did the bag make it to the right place?? Had almost the same thing with the tag hanging on by a thread - replacement no issues.

A few hundred dollars supplements a baggage handlers income quite nicely. ;)

I travel with HLO myself, ... but can people read the name on the tags, if the real owner does not write anything in contacts?
Can the barcode or the digits below it be deciphered?
If I remember correctly, those circular things don't have a name printed on it.
OR is it someone buying them off ebay, and then tying them to their own bags so they could you know, look like a big shot, having a bag with a WP/P1 tag on it while they themselves are an NB/PS/SG? And that bag of theirs never having been in the luggage hold of a plane.

You can get 2 every year at no charge if you're WP or P1, I would guess that is the source of the Ebay ones.
They don't automatically send them to you when you renew, you have to ask.

One of mine doesn't scan any more, no idea why so I asked for new ones today.
Guessing they will probably be the new black ones.

What about Gold ones? Can you get 2 of those each year?

RE: SG bag tags, yes, I have my 2.
As mentioned, I travel with HLO so don't use them, and I don't need to show either.
