Noticed that Qantas no longer sell Q Bag Tag on Qantas Marketplace anymore, anyone know the reason why and if they will be able to be purchased in the near future again?

i think you can get 2nd hand ones on ebay or other sites

Seems the Q coasters are officially phased out… my status renewed this morning and I got offered a new “sustainable luggage tag”. New pages are up on the website and marketplace.

Disappointing to lose the RFID tech, and only getting one tag for high status holders is a bit stingey…

Too many normal commuters/tradies wearing the Qantas gold bag tag on their daily train commute (true SGs don't even need the bag tag to validate their status/worth)

I don't check a bag that often on domestic, but when I do, I greatly appreciate not having to apply a paper bag tag.

Will be frustrating having to get re-acquainted with those machines...
Oh really? I do enjoy having the privilege of receiving my oneworld priority sticker tag. Then selling it for $10 on Ebay 🤣

Nothing in the earlier link confirmed RFID tech is being removed (just yet) but that’ll be a lot of infrastructure to remove / replace (or maybe just stub out that software feature?).

The totem poles where easier to remove but I liked using those back in the day.

Even when the new bag drops come in, it will still have the RFID feature. Q-tags may be slowly on the way out, but the use of them will still be available.

Feels like a step backwards. How is printing lots of paper/plastic tags at check in more sustainable then the re-usable RFID tags?

I guess at the very least people won't question why the tags are placed on hand luggage and perhaps realise that the tags can be used as a means of visual identification too.

I'm a Q Tag fan and they have never failed me yet - apart from occasional temperamental behaviour from bag drop carousels, usually if there were old international barcode stubs still stuck to my bag.

It will be a shame to see them phased out and a shame not to be able to sail straight up to bag drop machines but instead deal with a kiosk first, especially at busy times or arriving with only minutes to spare before bag drop closes.

They make a decent drinks coaster.
