Are they open yet?

I'm flying DWN-SYD-BNE-DWN in J and wonder if I'll be able to see the new lounges?

When did QF start operating from Downtown, Oklahoma (DWN)?? :mrgreen::mrgreen: I suspect you might be coming from DRW??

Looks like a large slab of BNE Dom QP is being usurped for J/F lounge purposes - 50% ?

The tarmac views seem doomed for the QC-ers who only have the rear sections to play in now. Last few weeks when I've departed BNE the cordoned-off bit was very, very crowded which drops the atmosphere considerably. :mad:

All going well it should be finished by the time I hit BNE in September... will be flying J, so a nice opportunity to try it out :rolleyes:

I reckon I will have lost access before they finish these lounges...

The QF site states;
Business Lounges will feature shower amenities, private work suites, social facilities, a signature food offering and a barista service, and business facilities including complimentary wireless internet. The lounges open in Sydney T3, Melbourne and Brisbane domestic terminals mid-2008.

This could mean opening from now till August as I would deem June, July and August as "Mid 2008"

And I think originally the same website said April 2008 to coincide with the changes to anytime WP access...

They may not have enough money to keep flying planes, but it's good to know there's plenty in the kitty for new lounges.:p

Who knows - it is probably a cost saving project. Keep the current standards in the new lounges and drop the standards of the QP's. Ive watched how some of the food goes in the zoo currently - they must spend a fortune on it.

I think the speed at which the food goes indicates that they arent spending enough ;)

Hold on a minute!

Do I understand that the lounge re-developments are such that they are requisitioning existing QP floor space?!

If this is the case, how on earth can the two tiered lounge system reduce over-crowding???

Same floor area used by the same number of people equals same net density of people.

Will I be lucky as a WP and find that it is less crowded whilst the unlucky QP members and Gold down will be even more crammed than before?

Surely this is not a positive indication of QF commitment to either the new J or (possibly downgraded???) QP.

The rude roo has yet another crowded eating and boozing hall coming to an airport near you lovingly portrayed as a sophisticated and relaxing lounge in an extensive and totally vacuous marketing campaign.

:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

That is how it seems. The Melbourne QP is positively pokey now. I'm secretly hoping that once all this is done they will significantly increase the price of QP membership to cut the numbers down.

I would imagine that most QP memberships would be either corporate funded or through status and as such i dont think price would matter that much. If it did and they went to DJ or something it would require a big shakeup the most corporates wouldnt enjoy.

And the silly thing is that currently DJ and QP are about the same price when you take into account the joining fee so the only difference is the crowd which is a lot smaller in DJ and i can say with most of the times i've been in the lounge there has been me and a handful of others at worst and more often than not it has been only me. Makes you feel a bit inconspicuos but boy do you get service!

A QP member might hope that SG is made harder to attain in order to keep the numbers down. ;)

Bloody hell - I was campaigning to QANTAS to introduce a barista fulltime in the QP - now I find that it's only going to be for F/J/WP passengers. Given I don't drink, but I enjoy a good coffee any time, I'm disappointed.

Yes, I always love these arguments - everyone thinks that they have the right to be there, but others are either freeloaders or CUBs.
