Q Business Lounges (MEL, SYD, BNE)

QF would pass the cost of lounge entry to the airline where the Oneworld Sapphire/Emerald member holds status.
Do they really charge each other for lounge access? Or is it part of the OneWorld agreement that lounge access is provided to each alliance airline's status FF members?

I think they do although I am not certain.

When entering AA, AY and BA lounges in the past I have noticed them writing down that I am a QFF. They may keep these for statistical purposes only but may also use them for invoicing.

On another occassion in SIN I was handed an invitation by CX to visit the Skyview Lounge but I headed over to the QF lounge instead. The person at reception was pleased to accept the invitation and he mentioned that I was better off giving the invitation to the QF lounge rather than the Skyview Lounge. This is not conclusive proof by any stretch of the imagination but somehow i get the feeling that they do charge each other for lounge entry.

I have heard/read views both ways, but have no real evidence or credible sources for whether they charge or not. International lounges do seem to keep information about who enters, but just what they do with the information is known to me.

I can confirm that Qantas does not charge AA for my entry into the domestic Qantas Club lounge as I have on many occasions just flashed my AA card and wandered through in the same manner as a QF Platinum member would do. The agent at the door does not seem to scramble to add one to the tally of entries to charge to AA. If not done for domestic, why would it be any different for international?

The new lounge is open in BNE. As I am SG (but only 20SC's away from WP!!!) I haven't been in side, but it has taken up all the space behind the temperary walls used in the reno (behind the entrance where the amex/dinners/vodafone stands used to be). When you walk towards the lounge entrance, the welcome desk is in the same position, and the entrance to the QP is the same, yet to the right of the desk (as you face it) is a door to the Business lounge. Outside the entrance to the QP/JLounge there are 2 metal signs on the wall (very hard to see due to bad lighting), the one on the left says something similar to "Qantas Pub: Gold FF & QP Members" and the one on the right says "Business Lounge: J Pax, WP & OWE".

Looks like new white leather lounge chairs, and not to much of a crowd (however it was 5:00am!). The old jewellers is still boarded up, so not sure if there are toilets or if the entrance will change slightly in the future.

Still the old furniture in the QP which looks like you should go and have blood tests after you have sat in them, and the QP wraps around the back of the J lounge, so only one external window (looking onto the crash 8's?). Looking forward to some inside info, as I wont make WP for another week, so surely someone else will have been inside by then.

Thanks for the info - I might be in BNE later this year to test it out (mind you I am going there to surprise my parents and my sister so no QP for me as I think 3 adults and 1 kid as guests might be pushing it...)

Good news. I'll stop by tomorrow .

And agree with NM, QF has never blinked at AA EXP/OWE card or boarding pass when entering the lounge.

The AC's in the US make of point of logging in my QP/WP card upon entry.

That bites. I missed it by a week. I flew SYD-BNE-DRW last week in J and was hoping they would be open (hence the original post).

Now I guess this means that if I walk in to the QP, get an ODU I can then walk next door in to the J lounge.

Bris lounge - Yesterday at 5.45Am only a dozen folk or so in new lounge. I am flying tomorrow morning early and will send feedback. Suspect they will be less crowded and you will be able to find a seat  in peak times.
