Hi All,

I'm trying to navigate the *A rules after being a OW customer for decades. I've moved to VA and also doing more Asia travel which SQ has better options and more flexibility. (eg. 1 QF flight to SIN vs 4 SQ flights to SIN from BNE per day)
I'm flying SQ more and have KF points but no status. I have VA GL status (working for platinum over the next few weeks) and have been booking with the Velocity FF to get the J experience on a Y ticket.
While this is great for VA points & status, I can't use KF points for upgrades.

The question is should I continue to book under VA or use KF and try to build KF status and access to point upgrades. I don't have access to PE from BNE and flying J will be out of budget at these current levels. Monthly Y will be the main option which will make that hard.
Should I book on the SQ KF and they try and add my VA GL details each time I checkin? Does moving to platinum change this perspective?

Is anyone else performing FF gymnastics like this on a regular basis?

Cheers.

Pretty sure VA WP won’t add a lot to the flying experience on SQ metal. But if you can make VA WP, that at least guarantees two years of Gold or better status (with the “soft landing”).

Sounds like you’re doing a fare bit international flying, so directing that to SQ might make sense but getting SQ A*Gold flying in whY is a bit of a slog but you might be able to flash your VA card for the benefits while building status with SQ.

There‘s a shortcut to SQ A*G here if it works for you?

I wouldn't bother with upgrades IMHO - I believe they come out of the same availability pool as outright saver business class redemptions, which don't cost that many more points. You can get these with either velocity points directly, or transferring velocity points to krisflyer miles and then booking there.
