I’ll hold one up saying “me too!” Sounds like a great idea. I’ve never been to a AFF get together before so I’ll be looking like an awkward kid at a school social (who didn’t even get to go to the ACTUAL social!)
Don't worry about seeming like you are the odd one at any AFF event, we are all odd in our own special ways. When I told MrsK of my plan, she just sighed and muttered something about bunch of nerds under her breath. And then, the annual AFF get together will be Canberra this Dec, so you can meet the whole crew of special people.

Many of us already know each other thanks to past flights and dinners, however as there aren't too many flying groups out there it's probably safe to say whichever group has the largest number of people there, that's AFF.

Also based on the chatter from my non-flying group friends, I think you really needed to be part of a group like AFF to stand a chance of nabbing a seat.
That's definitely true in my case. The help from people on this forum is outstanding. I've already thanked @ajd for their part in it!
And I am looking forward to meeting some people in real life too.

You could wear your QF bag tags on your ears. That should attract sufficient attention.
Oh that is just hilarious. Or perhaps we should all wear some of our collection of Qantas PJs (whatever style/class you have)! or maybe make a clothing item out of old FF cards.... you've really set my creativity running!

Ok great! My husband regards it with MUCH bemusement.

Meeting some AFF peeps sounds great!

A past reader only. Was looking around to see what was being said about the flight. Thought I'd jump in. Have 2 x tiks in Business. Lucky us I guess. Was P1 for a few years, but not now. Flew on OEJ to HK for our 25th wedding anniversary back in 2009. Have sent our 747 story to Qantas on their farewell flight page.

I secured a seat for the Canberra flight only due to not ever being on one of these planes before. I am coming from wagga wagga, nsw and really needed to know where to park and what time I should arrive for the awesome experience. Hi all. :)

Park at the terminal - there is plenty of undercover outdoor parking available. Airports are in low demand these days. I'd be getting there no later than 10am.

Happy to catch up with some other FFlyer and I guess I am very easy to spot being 6"7 tall.;)
If all goes to plan I am at the airport around 8.30am, I can guest 2 in the Lounge if on the B747 flight (if you're there early too)
Otherwise catch up at the gate activities I guess.

How about we just (on the day) nominate a gate at a certain time to meet?

This will obviously be one away from the main action?

Alternatively, someone can just hold up a big sign :)

I'll see you in the lounge then as I'll prob be there around 8:30ish

BTW I can also guest one if someone needs guesting (and is on that flight)

Outside the JLounge is probably a good meetup point before the main activities.

To give those of you in CBR a sense of what to expect on the day, those of us on the SYD flight have received an e-mail with further details for Monday. For us, the e-mail is advising us to arrive at the Qantas Club between 8:30-9:00 to collect our boarding pass and for brunch. So non-status pax won't need guesting (unless you want to try and duck off to the J lounge instead of the QPub). Assuming it will be a similar arrangement in CBR.

Very civilised. 😀

Just putting it out there, they could easily have given everyone a really special experience by putting on the brunch in the Chairmans Lounge. This wouldn't impact regular guests of these lounges, as none of the CL's are scheduled to re-open until August anyway... and I feel there's easily enough space in these lounges for the number of guests on these 747 flights.

Having never been in the CL for obvious reasons... are they really big enough for 200+ people? In Canberra, and with social distancing measures in place?

Is the QP?
