Hello there!

I'll be in Y (well, here's hoping our COVID situation stays stable over the next week and I don't decide to cancel... edit: whelp, I post this, and a few minutes later we have 3 cases in the ACT. let's hope that's well contained...).

If people are organising to do anything in the lounge I'd appreciate guesting.

Hi there, I will also be on the Canberra flight and would like to meet up with fellow AFFers. How will we recognise each other? Maybe we should all carry a red rose and the Canberra Times open to page 5 😆. no seriously, how will we?

Thanks Sam for moving the thread.
I will be driving down from the Hunter Valley on Thursday evening.
I have Qantas Club access, but they may already have an area for us if Qantas are providing the morning tea, as per the inclusions.
I have never been to CBR airport, so dont know any locations, but in the past we just stayed on this thread and someone posts ~”I am here in front of xyz”

thanks @Bindibuys. We should all stay in touch then.

As per the other thread, I unfortunately don't have a seat on the flight but plan to head out to the airport on the day. I like @kookaburra75 & @SydneySara's idea!

I already know a few of the CBR-based AFFers, but perhaps I'll try to wear something recognisable on the day for those who may not have been to a CBR event before.

Are you going to be around, @prf31?

Just signed up here after a few years of being a reader only.

I am on the CBR flight too. Scored a Window seat in Y.
Heading down from SYD in the morning with QF1463, arriving around 8.20 (and straight for brekkie in the Lounge)

Managed to get myself a seat in the Y mini cabin. Excited might be an understatement.

Promises to be a fun day and can’t wait to get back up in the air! (Albeit with a lovely 04:00 wake up)

Fairly new to the forum so looking forward to meeting some of you guys in the lounge or onboard :)

I’ll be easy to spot as there will be a small Paddington bear with me. Am hoping to get his logbook signed by the captain.
Unfortunately only bronze and can’t use any of the credit card supplied lounge passes for husband and I.

Many of us already know each other thanks to past flights and dinners, however as there aren't too many flying groups out there it's probably safe to say whichever group has the largest number of people there, that's AFF.

Also based on the chatter from my non-flying group friends, I think you really needed to be part of a group like AFF to stand a chance of nabbing a seat.

Whilst I have lounge access, the rumour is that they will be doing some sort of event with morning tea first, so I suspect lounge will be a moot point.

I thought of having a sign made up with the words "It should have been me!", that I can wave at those boarding the flight. You should be able to spot us then.

The Qantas site now shows the flight at 10.30 while my booking says 12.00
Guess that is for the pre-flight event at the gate.

I’ll hold one up saying “me too!” Sounds like a great idea. I’ve never been to a AFF get together before so I’ll be looking like an awkward kid at a school social (who didn’t even get to go to the ACTUAL social!)

I'm so looking forward to this. Never been to any event like it and am happy to get a ticket (even if all the windows and business were already taken). Never been to a AFF meet up too.

Will be great to do one flight during this covid times.

AFF has such a diverse range of pax. Which is also why it is such a great place to obtain travel information.
When I attended my first social get-together in Sydney the night before one of our trips, I have to admit I came away... Oh, this is not my crowd.
But then I went to the next social, a whole new group and bang - this is my place. I have attended the yearly gathering every year since, and any other activities that fit into my schedule.
We already all hold a common thread - we are here on this site, we love to travel. So I am looking forward to some new faces, and some old next Friday.
I will be the one holding a stuffed toy rabbit. Now that is a conversation starter every where we go.
