Thanks everyone! This one took aaaaaages to write. Make sure you all checkout the videos as well.

Great TR and pictoral presentation. Even though I have been the Flounge many times now I never cease to get that little tingle when I see photos of it again.
Thanks Fabian.

Great TR, Thanks :)

Very good TR, I have been thinking about flying back to UK next year on Red Roo, on the A380. Your TR has been very helpful.

Great report and a pleasure to read. :)

While it can be a pain to load pictures into the report, it really makes it *that* much better, thankyou :)

I love the quality of your pictures. Would you mind sharing what type of camera you use?

A brilliant report, thanks for all the equally fantastic pictures!

Just a Olympus EP2, except mine is covered in wood. I used to have a big full frame DSLR (Sony A700) with a massive lens set but I gave it all up for the little pen and a set of old russian lenses. It's a bit hipster, but the setup actually works really well.

Thanks for sharing your TR. I'm guilty of it takes too long, or I'll do it later (aka never), so appreciate the efforts of of AFFers who put in the effort.

Reading about your first time in the F lounge brings back fond memories of my first time a few years ago. Also love your wine geek commentary. Perhaps QF could hire you as an onboard Sommelier - since you are a student they can pay you peanuts lol.

Hahah i'd very much prefer they hire me as in-house legal council, and pay me lots.

Interesting to get the opinions of someone who knows wine. I just point to something I think will be really yummy, and it generally is. In J or the Flounge, of course.

And yeah, I get a tingle when i see the Flounge pix. It is easily the best lounge I've been in, and half the fun is the awesome design. Sitting in a comfy chair, a glass of bubblie, looking out as the jets take off is just delightful, especially while digesting one of those excellent meals.

And I love seeing pictures of airline food. Makes me feel not quite so geekish when I flash out my Canon and snap the soup!

Just a bit confused, though. What sort of mushroom noodles were they?

I thoroughly enjoyed your report. It was so detailed and informative, but at the same time light hearted and reflective. Thanks so much for posting it!

I agree with many other posters here and thank you for a fascinating and well written TR. The photos are awesome.

Great report. I'm on the same flight in J this coming Friday. I thought of doing a trip report but you have just killed that idea with the quality of yours!

Hokkien style!

Kind of looks like a thinner version of the Japanese udon - perhaps the light compensation is changing the colour. The usual Hokkien noodles ("Hokkien mee" in South East Asia) is yellow in colour.

So let me get this straight. You have cold Hokkien noodles, topped with warm (or perhaps cold but cooked - looks a bit toasted) shiitake mushrooms and shallots? Was there any broth, and was the broth cold or warm?

I'm aware of a Japanese snack (or meal) which is similar to this, also served cold, except it's usually just cold soba noodles (different to udon again - made of buckwheat), fish broth, sweet soy and shallots. The CX lounges in HKG love to serve this stuff on ice.

Definitely warm, definitely not udon. No broth, oyster sauce dressing, and the menu i'm fairly sure listed 'Mushroom Hokkein Noodles'... though I definitely may have remembered that wrong. Either way they were delicious. I usually have something very similar made for me at the 大牌檔 (street noodle vendors) in my neighbourhood for breakfast.
