Hi
I just got the email relaunching the QF advisory panel website. A few highlights from the email:

- Advisory panel members are only a very select few of frequent flyers - not just anyone
- Survey results showed that 60% of people want to select a seat at booking (so don't be surprised if that comes back)
- New check in procedures for City flyer - including microchip boarding passes for QF PS and above:

Customers will be able to speed through check-in, drop off baggage at a simplified bag drop, or proceed straight through to hosted security. Platinum, Gold and Silver Frequent Flyers will receive additional benefits of a chip-enabled personal boarding pass and permanent bag tag for seamless processing. It is expected the next generation check-in will deliver an exceptional industry leading experience from ‘curb to gate’ – with some aspects of the new experience a world-first.

New functionality on the website:

Share your flight experience with us.
New to the Panel website is the opportunity for you to provide feedback on your recent flight experience and we encourage you to do so, every time you fly domestically. Whether you fly Qantas or another carrier, we would like to hear from you.
Simply log-in to the Panel website and complete the short survey for your domestic flight. This survey will remain on the Panel portal so it is there for you every time you fly. We are also looking to develop a similar survey based on your International experiences, so watch this space for future updates.

Geez I wish they'd survey me.......

simongr, if you get any chance to recommend new panel members, please do let me know

I like the feedback idea...

Linked in with the FF website, so when you go and check SCs are posted you can have a series of radio buttons as well as some text boxes for specific feedback... I bet QF could build up a nice statistical system.. eg what areas are important to WP vrs NB etc...

Nice one.

But, as a Silver QFF, l probably fly sometimes as much/if not more than some WP's. Only difference with me, l pay for red edeals whereas some lucky WP might only do 2 F SYD-LHR runs a year. I might be doing 15 PER-SYD return legs a year and still be on Silver. QF is more skewed towards the pointy end of the market and benefits for them. Then again, x2 SYD-LHR F would make alot more revenue than 15 PER-SYD Red eDeals.

Interesting. On my last visit to the F lounge I filled in a questionnaire. At the bottom it had a small box to tick if I 'wished to become a member of the Qantas Advisory Panel' to which I ticked to indicate my wish to participate.

I've never heard anything from QF, meaning it was a decoy or they never looked at my card (some kind of lounge manager person wandered over and asked to collect my card, so they definitely did have it in their mitts).

I know a few NB's who are on the panel. It was selected from a range of FF'ers, not just the WP/SG's.

That said, as per my post above, i'm still waiting for my (supposedly assured) invite

As a year in, year out PS I find it interesting that I was a member last time around but have not been invited back... I even got that lovely bottle of olive oil last time so assume my feedback was appreciated......

Got the email as well...need to now go find that bottle of olive oil that they sent me last year; the last time I saw it, my +1 was using it as a rolling pin as she was baking some cookies:shock:

additional benefits of a chip-enabled personal boarding pass and permanent bag tag
Excellent. Having had the same QFF status for years all my QFF bag tags have fallen apart. I was thinking of ringing and asking for some new ones, now I might wait, and stick with the old golden wing ones for the time being.:)

The box said 'If you would like to participate, select here'. It was an invite to join, not expression of interest.

And did it say "If you select this box, QANTAS will invite you to the program"?

It seems to me to be an opportunity for you to indicate that you'd like to participate, without any gaurantee from the QANTAS side that you'd be invited.

Without having the form handy, it read something like "As a valued frequent flyer, Qantas would like to invite you to participate in the Customer Advisory Panel. If you would like to participate, please provide your email address below"

It was definitely an invitation. Anyone in the MEL/SYD F Lounge able to collect one of the comment cards they leave around the place on the tables to verify the wording for me?

Further update - profiling questionnaire has been launched - you need to complete it to be a member of the panel in future.

I did the profile update...basically wanted to know which airlines you flew, no. of domestic and international flights you flew last year, is this increasing this year, and what sort of service levels you expect on board etc.

- Survey results showed that 60% of people want to select a seat at booking (so don't be surprised if that comes back)

This was actually scheduled to be rolled out for Domestic in Dec last year but they have held off - doing more software checks to ensure Premium passengers are not disadvantaged.
