OK - latest survey is out so thought I would share:

First question (strongly disagree to strongly agree):

The brand of the bag is more important than the functionality of the bag
Quality is more important than the brand
A unisex offering is just as useful as a gender specific amenity kit
The products inside the kit are more important than the bag itself
The amenity offering should be the same in-flight as it is in the lounge
The amenity offering should vary depending on daytime or evening flights
It is more important that the design be environmentally friendly rather than aesthetically appealing

Second question

How likely would you be to use a Qantas First amenity kit for each of the following purposes? (1 - 10)
In-flight
Whilst travelling after a flight
At home
As a gift

Third Question:

How satisfied are you with the current male Qantas First amenity kit? And explain why.

Fourth question:

How appealing would each of the following brands be if they were to be used for a First class amenity bag? (1 - 10)

Bally
Zegna
Pasparley
Qantas branded
Akira
Boucheron
Burberry
Collette Dinnigan

I actually rated QF branded the highest (9) as I would like a return to things about the airline rather than things about some random designer. For example I love my Ansett branded travel wallet.

Fifth question:

Which would be your preferred material to be used for the First class amenity bag?

Velvet
Nylon
Silk
Cotton
Satin

Sixth question

How appealing would each of the following skincare brands be if they were to be available in the First amenity kit? (1 - 10)

Payot
La Prairie
La Mer
Aesop
SKII

Seventh question:

Which of the following would you most prefer as a male First Class amenity bag?

Images - will try to upload later.

Eighth question

Now thinking about the current male Qantas First amenity kit, please rate how satisfied you are with each of the following:

Payot fold out Bag
Cotton Wraparound eyemask
Rexona Deodorant Spray 30g
Gillette Shaving Foam 56g
Toothbrush with 25gm Colgate toothpaste
Earplugs
Comb
Baume a Levres Lip Balm 5ml
Optimale - Soin Energisant (Face) 15ml
Optimale Soothing After Shave Care 15ml
Razor available on Request - Gillette Sensor III

Ninth question

Now thinking about the current range of products available in the Qantas First Class bathrooms, please rate how satisfied you are with each of the following:

Revitalising toner Lotion Essentielle Payot 125ml
Moisturiser Emulsion Minerale Payot 125ml

Tenth Question

Thinking about brands and products that you may have been given on other airlines or used in general, are there any other brands or products that you would like us to consider for our First Class amenity offering

Eleventh question

How satisfied are you with each of the following First Class products?

Pyjamas
Socks
Slippers

This is a thorough survey!

Twelfth question

Same questions for J class - not reposting here unless different.

Interesting questions there - I agree with you about that they should have QF branded bags, makes them more collectable. I couldnt care less on most of the 'designers' they have, I dont know any of them.

I still think they need more of the more practical contents. Toothpaste/toothbrush, comb, spray deoderant (both sexes), shaving stuff for men, a small lip balm and basic moisturiser. One thing they should add is a small fragrance.

Payot
La Prairie
La Mer
Aesop
SKII
I just completed the survey; would I be the only one if I said I had not heard of any of these brands before?

I've heard of the first one, but only because I know of a certain member who likes to collect bottles of the stuff from the F Lounge ;)

I had heard of three of the five. And our preferred brands only appeared in the J suggestions (dermalogica and Jurlique)

I've heard of Payot, La Prairie and Aesop. I'm quite happy with the current Payot. Perhaps Bvlgari might be nice (I like their perfumed lotion, though definitely some just want a plain moisturiser).

Dermalogica seems a bit cheap for F but quite decent for J. The problem I find with Dermalogica is that their products seem, feel and smell very clinical. They probably do their function quite well, just not appealing.

Jurlique I don't have much experience with, apart from that the range of soap etc. has pushed out the former and superior Molton Brown from the SIN QF/BA lounge showers.

If I were guessing the other brands on the J survey, I suppose one of the others would've been the incumbent Mailin+Goetz (haven't tried, so not sure, but looks really, really plain). I wonder if they also listed the previous incumbent, supposedly Australian owned Korner.

Dermalogica - wife uses and swears by it for years - I have never considered it cheap ;)

Jurlique - toddlergr uses it for bubble bath/baby shampoo as the sensitive little sausage has sensitive skin.

Funny today has been back to the continuig cleanup. It was time to go through all the things we have brought back from our travels.
As long as they dont go back to the Mark Newson zip cases-horrible zipper.Become useless very quickly.

Having seen a few of the INT amenity kits over the preceding years, my personal favourite remains the Florence Broadhurst zipper bag with the Malin+Goetz amenities from 2010. While the L'occitane inclusions in the Marc Newson and previous were great, those kits simply lacked class.

Having said that, I still use the blue tri-fold amenity case (used an elastic loop around it for keeping closed) from the early to mid 00s for travelling. Quite robust and has held together all these years without a flaw.

Glad they're onto the big issues.

Am I the only one who couldn't care less about the amenity kit? I have my own toiletries (amenity sounds nicer, I guess?) bag in my carry on, and oddly enough, I use that.
I usually just take them home and give them to the wife, the same way I would with hotel shampoo :) ... including the rare (for me) international first amenity kits.

You're probably in the minority.

Or, to put it another way, people look at amenity kits as being minor in a larger package. They might not care less about them when they get them, but they will care a great deal if they are significantly "enhanced".

As evidenced by the outrage when they brought in the small plastic kits with other items available on request

Hehe, I'm used to that :) I can honestly say I wouldn't care if I didn't get one at all.

Has there been a survey about inflight food? Now that I care about ;)

I've done the survey. Very much like one they did a while back.

Most of the brands are meaningless to me. I never use skin lotions & potions and I don't go for spray deodrants (I prefer roll-on, I hasten to add :p) but I pass them on so they don't go to waste.

I can live without the amenity kit but they do keep me in compact shaving cream and toothpaste for DOM travel.

I like the F pajamas, hate to waste them by leaving them behind but never know what to do with them once home as I don't wear such things to bed. Someone once said they are good for washing/polishing the car :).

2010 to now ladies (Am looking for 2010 Black silk which I use). The last photo is the contents.

Give most away as gifts to relatives and friends.

PJ's go to nephews

Somewhere above Do I like QF PJ's - I much prefer BA's better fabric and colour.

The 1st bag is always used on flight if more flights the rest are stored for self or as gifts.

Like the idea of the bags much nice than BA's packaging.

I often use them when painting - I also use the QF F PJs when travelling in J on other carriers (CX - a lot).

Glad they're onto the big issues.

I think this is why they don't engage in social media - they are damned for not asking questions and damned if they do ask questions. This is one in a sequence of surveys on a broad range of topics across DOM and INT. Given the monolith that is QF I expect some of the other changes are barely through the initial review committee process. At least they are asking and they have been asking for years - I have been on the Advisory panel for at least 3 years.
