Allow me to throw my hat into the ring with a referral for the Qantas American Express Premium Card. Having recently applied for an AMEX card using a referral link on AFF, I'm hoping somebody will return the favour and 'pay it forward', so to speak!

With all of the current changes in the Australian credit card market (due to the RBA's mandated interchange fee cuts), most credit cards will soon begin earning fewer points per dollar spent - but not the Qantas AMEX Premium Card, which now earns more points per dollar spent than before! (AMEX cards issued direct by AMEX aren't subjected to the new lower interchange fees, which means you'll continue earning points at the full rates.)

You can earn a solid 1.25 Qantas Points per dollar spent on almost all of your purchases (including with insurers, utilities and telcos which previously awarded fewer points), and an even higher 2.25 Qantas Points per dollar spent direct with Qantas, such as when booking your flights in Australian dollars or paying for Qantas Club lounge membership. The only exception is government spend (like payments to the tax office), for which you'll earn 1 Qantas Point per $2 spent. In any case, there's no points capping or tiering to contend with either, so regardless of how much you spend each month, you'll earn points on the full amount at the full rates!

That's not even the best part: you'll also scoop up a bonus 60,000 Qantas Points after spending at least $1,500 on the card within the first 3 months! That's an epic 40 Qantas Points per dollar spent when first using your card!

Also thrown in are two Qantas Club airport lounge passes each year (valid in domestic Qantas Club lounges and Qantas international business class lounges), plus domestic and international travel insurance.

Let's say you normally spend around $4,000 per month on your current credit card. Move that spend to this card and you'd be earning 5,000 Qantas Points per month or 60,000 Qantas Points per year - plus the further 60,000 bonus Qantas Points when signing up. That's an impressive 120,000 Qantas Points earned in the first 12 months: enough for a return business class trip to Singapore or Hong Kong (plus taxes and fees), which would usually sell for $3,000-5,000 at retail prices.

So what would you pay for this? Certainly not $5,000, or even $3,000 - try just $249 per year! Yes, for $249 you could be swanning your way to Asia and back in business class (plus taxes and fees when booking), while also receiving free travel insurance and having a couple of Qantas lounge passes up your sleeve to use when flying economy.
