Lounge passes
I should clarify... I was talking about the Amex lounge passes 2 posts above. The qantas lounge passes are as stated above, but you need to spend with qantas using the card to enable them. I think the Amex lounge passes come without any spend to activate them.
To access the Amex Lounge at Sydney Airport you need only show your qualifying Amex card and your boarding pass - they have afaik never sent out paper passes. Their own system track the number of visit you have already made for the year.
On other cards I have had Qantas used to send out paper passes following booking a Qantas flight on he card, which was handy as if you already have a Qantas Club membership like I do, it meant you could gift them to friends or family members; now that they are attached to the card there is no value to anyone who is a Gold FF or Qantas Club member as you already get lounge access with your flight.
I applied for the Qantas Ultimate American express 10 days before this new 100K bonus point offer, so am a bit miffed I only get 55k bonus points (seems the points offer was upped after the banks finally announced their new direct apply amex offers, which weren't very good).
Was wondering if anyone who applied for this card recently has actually seen any Qantas points (not just the bonus ones which i understand take a while) credit to their Qantas FF account?
I ask, because I've had the card for just over a month, have spent the minimum $ to qualify for the bonus points and paid my first bill in full on time BUT i have had no points transferred to my Qantas Account, and logging into Amex shows 0 points transferred although does display the points ive earned?
Previously with bank issued amex, points were always displayed on statement, and credited to Qantas on the day the bill was paid. Very surprised points arent in my account, and I need to use points soon.
AMEX do a sweep of accounts on differing days, it very rarely lines up with your statement date. So I'd be giving it another week or so, you'll get the bonus and point earn on the first sweep more then likely (they're pretty efficient at issuing the bonus points).
Have any of you recently got this bonus while having an Amex David Jones card (or recently cancelled an Amex DJ). From my experience I have got the bonuses twice (Velocity Platinum and Qantas Ultimate) while having a DJ card but calling to Amex this time they seem to confirm that if you have owned any Amex card including DJ, then you are not eligble.
My wife cancelled an Amex Velocity Platinum more than 18 months ago and also had an DJ cancelled in Sep 2017. Do you think she would be eligible for this offer?
I would call and confirm again, or use their online chat. As everything I have read is the DJ Amex is not considered a 'normal' AMEX card and in regards to bonus points you are still eligible even if you have held a DJ card.

Yes I called Amex twice and got the same answer, not eligible since her Amex DJ was cancelled for less than 18 months. This is bascially contradicting with all of the cases known to me including myself so decided to try their Chat function. The chat agent confirmed that she would eligible because Amex DJ is special. Took a screen shot and decided to apply anyway as I figure that in the worst case if I don’t see the point in her Amex account after minimum spending as well as my reference point I can always cancel the card before the annual fee hits.
Just incase you wanted to review the article I quoted: Applying for New Credit Cards in Retirement
"It’s also worth remembering that American Express allows couples to list their combined income when applying for a new Amex card."
is it common with Amex to not have to send in payslips?.
I applied and was approved without providing any proof of income (i.e. pay slips or letter from HR), seems much easier than the bank issued credit cards.
Just like to chime in and thank whoever it was for the Qantas Amex Ultimate card referral this past week, Mrs Lime and self thank you, we are getting close to the points needed for our first around the world trip in J as seniors.
