I've been looking for good price airfares to London in a premium cabin and came across this fare $6899 for London with Qantas and Kingfisher and it's valid for June, when I want to fly.

As a QFF with Gold status, does anybody know what the situation is with Kingfisher and SC? I've checked the Qantas website but can't find anything. The cost is about $1,000 more than doing the same as doing Qantas return in Premium Economy.

My only hesitation is I don't want to book on the Best Flights website, as I've heard bad things about them.

Any ideas? The fare seems really good, as usually, Qantas to Singapore return in Business Class can be about this price!

Unless you're flying on a QF code with Kingfisher metal, no Status Credits. At least, until they join oneworld .. when is that slated to happen again?

I managed to find a QF/AY fare MEL-SIN-HEL-LHR return in June 2011 for just over $7k online or on the AY website for $100 more .. that will definitely earn SCs for all sectors.

Apparently Kingfisher have signed a MOU with Qantas to join OW expected to happen sometime in 2011.

Thanks for the tip on the airfare - will check it out.

Do I earn the same amount of points and SC on Finnair, as with Qantas? Is there an online calculator somewhere that will tell me?

Thanks!

You earn the same SCs in J on QF as AY. In fact though if you route through HEL you will earn more SCs.

Just to compare though a straight QF run vs an AY run you also need to factor in the status bonus and the flight time.

For example a WP flying MEL-LHR would earn:

on MEL-SIN(QF)-HEL(AY)-LHR(AY) would earn 320 SCs and 17,091 QFF points

on MEL-LHR in PE on QF the same WP would earn 120 SCs and 22,084 QFF points

Finnair HEL-LHR is about the same as BA Club Europe - a step down from QF Dom J.

Are Kingfisher not a 5-star rated airline by Skytrax?

Yep, they have a good product apparently.

But if you look at the 6 airlines in the Skytrax 5 star list there is only 2 I'd use, Singapore and Cathy.
