Qantas announces major ADL capacity increase and new routes

E190 is a big plus, specially up front for solo pax in the A seats. Always booked those. when an option. Much comfier and bigger windows than the CR7/9 equivalents and frankly would prefer for the ride than a 737.

<snip>

E190's can have a hot galley installed for J meals but unsure what these will offer in terms of service which could also be a factor for some, but even in Y a very nice comfy a/c for these routes. A good choice I reckon.

I don't think AY have ever had a problem serving a pretty decent hot offering in their E190s ... love the airframe but they could learn something from those Alliance J seats - not a fan of EU J seating (across any of the EU operators - haven't tried TK!).

Regards,

BD

QF mainline appear to have taken back the ADL-ASP route from today: scheduled to operate with B738 , old flight numbers reinstated, back to single daily return service - late morning departure, afternoon return. Schedule change currently until late October.
Wonder what swung it? Poor loadings on the twice daily QQ operated E190 services? Wonder where those aircraft are being redeployed to?
Perhaps the reappearance of SA lockdowns? And cancellations.
No easy way to travel ASP-PER weekdays......
If wandering
Fred

Appears QF858 has been running for a bit. Not sure why and appears have been running on the same days as the QQ flights.

Not exactly sure if the specifics, but there is apparently an issue with suitable Gates for the E190 here in Adelaide. Apparently only one is suitable and it may not have the appropriate security for arrivals.

Vague details but the person telling me hadn’t been paying that much attention when being told by airside QF staff last week.

So some further info.

An E190 had a hole put in it by an aerobridge at Canberra Airport. It managed to shove the plane sideways in the process. Similar issue in Adelaide, but only an impact rather than some new air vents.

Apparently there's an issue with the sensors on the aerobridges not picking the planes up.

I thought there was a thread somewhere but can't find it so here is the next best place. How quickly does Qantas reinstate flights when borders reopen. South East Qld can now travel with test so want to go asap before things change but only one QF and one JQ flight a day is loaded. Thanks

Very quickly from past indications which indicates they get an ‘unofficial’ heads up from a little birdy…

As of today this route appears to be operated by the QQ E190 again , still as a single daily service but with an antisocial 0615 departure ex ADL

Further “network optimisation” - since the post in Jan QF mainline again took back this route, perhaps from around Easter, and have operated a daily B738 service, however from 25 July it’s back to QQ daily E190, plus twice - daily 3x/week - overall some increased frequency at the cost of some loss of capacity.
