Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

Alrighty, let's give them a call and see how it goes. Wasn't going to bother since I would have re-qualified for Gold anyway, but there's a good chance I could make it to WP with the extra help.

So I gifted my Dom J lounge passes to my sister who was flying Y on the same PNR as myself (WP) and parents (my WP guests).

At SYD Dom J lounge last Wed, no problems all 4 waived in with a warm welcome.

At PER Dom J yesterday, lounge dragon tried to tell me that lounge passes are only ever for the QP so really my sister should go there but she'd make an exception as they were not busy. I explained that the linked pass was actually a Dom J pass given as part of the Qantas apology, all 3 dragons looked confused.

All worked out in the end I suppose; but QF really ought to educate their lounge staff re the different types of passes.

Same, 500 dropped in however no 100 from Points Club Plus yet...only 2,950 to P1 once they do if I select 50 SC from green tier as well.
Still no sign of the Points Club Plus 100SC yet, I have to 30 June 2024 to receive I suppose.

Used one of my AJ coupons on PER J two weeks ago. Slightly different experience, lounge lady was confused for just a sec until I told her that I used the voucher, she was very understanding afterwards and even trusted that I do have it when I struggled to find and show the lounge confirmation email. She remarked that they only come across one of those vouchers "every other week or so".

Also used my other coupon on MEL J last month. Lounge lady initially pointed me towards QP until I brought up the voucher, and the fact that there's "LPAC" on my Y BP despite being SG. She realised then waved me through. My J flights out of MEL have always been in the morning, apart from one flight I took during COVID, so this afternoon flight made for a great opportunity to try the Spice Bar for the first time!

What a difference a year makes (or does not?)

Just occurred to me that the lounge pass would have expired by now - I'd transferred mine but think it was left unused...

Mine got used by non status family member, but only with a month to spare.

Some friends of mine are pretty cheesed off at being downgraded from paid PE to Y both ways to LHR despite one of them holding LTG. They had specifically paid for PE because they don’t want to fly Y anymore. They had put in for a points upgrade to J, but didn’t get that either.

After that experience they no longer want to fly QF.

What was the reason? And of course we know they won't get much of a refund. Tell them to keep fighting.

The refund ex London will be 75% of the fare. It will be hard to argue that the other direction is worth less!
