Yes?
They were saying that the rules should be made 'crystal clear', and they are. They clearly show it can be cancelled minus a fee.
I see. I thought you were agreeing with OP in that it is not refundable.

I'm honestly not too sure what the fuss is about :)
My assumption is OP misread the fare rules and thought that if they cancelled, they would have to pay a $600 fee only to get flight credit (which is not correct). This followed by some confusion in this thread about what OP understood.

Well I'm sure if one goes to cancel such a fare online they'd be offered a credit voucher by default of course.. and would have to (sigh) call to get the refund, but we all agree the refund would be due.

International J fares on most airlines have always included provision for a refund (less a cancellation fee, which may be minimal), so any change is a major departure from what one would expect.

pre covid I think it was a mixed bag… a lot had to do with the fare. UA and DL’s J class sale fares ex AU to USA were completely non refundable, and were the reason why QF was quite appealing as their cancellation was ‘only’ $600. QF provided a degree of flexibility.

Elsewhere around the world Swiss and LH had (and still do) completely non refundable first and business class fares. Same with TK. CX were somewhat reasonably priced for cancellations, but could still be in the hundreds of USD for a ticket only costing USD2200.

This is true, although I believe they also give you the option to "upgrade" your ticket to something that is refundable for an extra few hundred dollars.
