You have to wait to OLCI, advance seat selection is not a QF link option

Ah thanks. Wonder why - it can be done on JQ, which is part of the QF group?
Just like you can do it on American Eagle which comes under the AA umbrella...

Qantaslink use a system that does not support it, unlike JQ and QF who use different systems but both support seat selection.

The QF service HBA/SYD still blows if you want to get up to the big smoke, do a day of business and get home again same day. Used to be able to get in at about 9am and depart about 6pm (from memory), until the cut-backs a year or 3 ago.

Now you still can 't get from HBA into SYD until 10:25am (therefore into city maybe 11am). Last QF flight out leaves at about 3pm (ex city at 2pm); the 'airline of last resort' has a flight at 5:10pm (ex city 3:30pm). Effectively means an overnight stay if you have much more than 2 hours of stuff to do. Unless you go DJ, which means earliest arrival at about 9:30am and depart latest 6pm. Better, but still not great.
