Apologies if this is a bit off-topic, but sadly I can't find much information to answer my question online (as most information seems to be news articles from the day): How did foreign airlines flying domestic tag routes help alleviate the ATC strike? Surely it's still the same number of aircraft movements regardless?

They stopped the London Heathrow to Belfast City route which was operated by their A320s, but still maintain an ATR base at Belfast City with a number of routes to the UK. These are operated by the UK division of Emerald Airlines for Aer Lingus.
