Just wanting to confirm that cancelling a domestic Qantas Business class ticket has no fees associated with it and the refund is back to original payment method (not travel credit). This is what I seem to gather from the fare rules, btu seeing if anyone had other experiences

Appears so IMG_2878.png

Usually the issue is pay now or pay later where you can pay $25 to hold the tic and pay a couple of days out

Otherwise it looks completely obvious

Fully refundable but I don't quite remember if the card payment surcharge is refunded. I know for instance VA doesn't refund card surcharges.

Some of the sale fares have different conditions, but all standard J fares are fully refundable.

I pay with a QF gift card when booking direct anyway
What happens if you refund that? Do you get the gift card back? Does it work if you refund online, or do you need manual intervention to re-issue the gift card?

I happened to cancel one last week and am still waiting for a refund back to the credit card originally used to purchase the gift card but will report back

I booked Business (I) domestic to MEL- MCY for June, am looking to change destination to TSV, can I simply do this change on the website or better to cancel, get refund and book new ticket?
(I believe this $ fare is fully refundable)

Same scenario with flight back, though that is CR.
Any input greatly appreciated.

You don't pay a change fee but you will pay a fare difference if there is one - but you'll realise that whether you change or cancel and rebook.

CR is flexible but 5,000 point change fee.

Thanks @fletty aware of both points and $ but changing destination can be done on the website through MMB?

Ah, I think you have to call to change destination - I haven't personally tried it though.

I'd be surprised if that works given gift cards are not usually redeemable for cash.

Quite unlikely that you'll get a refund of the gift voucher. Did you choose refund or flight credit when you cancelled it? I wonder if choosing a refund will cause the funds to disappear into the abyss?

Original payment method
So because it’s a mixed payment

the GV will go back to a Flight credit
The cash refunded

They might have business rules that enable small % ordinarily to go to a flight credit to be refunded with the bigger portion
