Qantas Business Class Headphones

I am about to make a couple of long haul International Business class flights on an Airbus 330-300. Are the headphones provided by Qantas noise-cancelling and/or any good ? My concern is that I can only get a seat in row 3 and would be horrified if passengers were in row 1 with a baby.
If I was to BYO headphones any recommendations ?

Just get a set of Bose

They are noise cancelling, if you’re only buying them for one trip use the ones offered. Unless you’re a music producer used to studio sound they’ll be fine.

Well they are ok...any of the popular branded NC headphones WILL be better. And I agree that if you're only doing the one or two flights its not worth it. But if you end up doing more, a decent pair of NC headphones are, I reckon, the best travel investment to make, and work equally in any cabin on the plane!

note to OP, NC is not going to stop the screams of a baby, but will definitely dampen it down. NC works best against regular constant noise, you still hear when crockery hits the floor, or someone slams the overhead bin closed, albeit dampened down.

Most of the NC headphones sounds pretty average when connected to the inflight entertainment. I carry my own for my devices but still use theirs for their system and they are ok.

If you have room then why not but I can’t be bothered as I’m always on the move and usually maxing out HLO weight. I always test their headphones as soon as I sit down and if it’s working I find they do the job reasonably well and if not get them to reset earlier than later.

If your only need for the headphones is to watch/listen to Qantas's in flight entertainment they will suffice. If you wish to use your own device then take your own headphones such as Sony or Bose wireless.

XM4s can be had for around $300 as well when sales come around or the refurbished versions from eBay (reports are they are very brand new anyway).

I always use my own Bose QC20 earphones. Compact and light for HLO.

NC is quite good, not as good as over-ear headphones though. Advantage is that you can sleep with them in, and the NC turned on. The NC battery lasts for 10 hours or so. And they are wired so you can still use them as earphones even when the battery is flat (but no NC obviously).
