Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I've found the emptier the cabin, the more it happens, because apparently I've had half the bottle so I may as well finish the rest later šŸ˜‚.
Exactly what the purser on that flight said to me :D
Side note - that might be flat iron steak, which is a really underrated piece of meat.
Yep- I believe that's the same cut. I've managed to get this done quite nicely on the BBQ even if marinated properly beforehand. But Qantas didn't really succeed that well

Yes, I've been given wine a couple of times in J to take away. Once on Qantas and once on Virgin that I can recall. In both cases, the bottles were unopened though and in the case of VA, it was to apologise that no food (at all) had been loaded onto the flight.
Yes, I received an "apology" bottle of red from QFd in J one time - because they had nothing I could eat, not even a cheese plate left. That's when I learnt to not select 3D/F as they rarely get much if any choice being served last. Was a nice drop, but can't remember what variety etc.
Edit: This was domestic J.

Can you not pre-order your J meals for the first leg on any longhaul the way you can in Y, to ensure you get something you can eat?

On last few US trips Ive always ordered my main also helps you get served ahead of those who didnt pre-prder.

I have sat in 3F and had status recognised and had CSM actually come to me FIRST and ask for my choice of meal - which was highly embarassing to me. Luckily I did not want food, so nobody missed out, but if I was another pax I might be a bit miffed seeing this dweeb getting first choice.....

(I would add this was a rare example so don't panic :) )

Thoughts on QF refilling your water bottle with tap water in J? I politely asked for a new bottle and got a talking to! Politely declined the refill and got my own water bottle from the galley.

Had asked for water when I got on board as the aerobridge was very warm. Request denied.

Is there a current issue with shortage of / refusal to hand out / top up water on J flights (specifically to/from LHR?). Doing this end of next week and drink quite a lot of tap water normally through the day- doubly so on aircraft!

The rules have changed and crew can again refill bottles on international flights

If someone has paid $8000++ for a J fare do they really want refilled tap water after their first 300ml runs out? First world problem I know but personally they can go jump! I've never had a ME or Asian carrier refill my bottle from the tap - if properly filtered then no problem.

QF1976 yesterday ADL-CBR.

Options were a pasty or chicken & quinoa healthy bowl. Went the pasty.

Pasty contained about one piece of meat and the rest was vegetable. No pre take off drink but tea/coffee, extra drinks offered after the main meal. One passenger asked for a G+T which was declined as apparently no spirits on board.

Service was good but I still think Virgin is offering a better food and value proposition at the moment (both in their lounges and onboard).

Itā€™s worth noting that there was an odd mix of Alliance and Qantas elements on this flight. Crew were all wearing Alliance uniforms with them thanking us for ā€˜flying Alliance, operated on behalf of Qantas.ā€™

I might be the odd one out but I find the E190 J product to be better than the 737

Lucky you weren't on QF486 MEL/SYD last night (Friday 11/2). Someone forgot to order the catering so there was nothing for anyone in J or Y. The crew did manage to find a packet of pretzels and a plastic cup of water for J pax.

Did you send in feedback?

Someone will probably forget to read it.

The airline shouldnā€™t require feedback from pax when their systems or processes fail. They should proactively apologise and at least offer a credit voucher when the purchased soft product is not provided.
Neil Perry inspired pretzels in the premium cabin on the flagship domestic route? Thatā€™s BS. Nobody forgot, they just didnā€™t want to wait for catering and miss their slot.
In some industries youā€™d be heavily fined for consistently not delivering the advertised product.

I was thoroughly unimpressed with two recent J flights MEL-SYD and SYD-MEL. No pre-departure beverage, one red, one white, no spirits (of course), no dessert (or anything remotely similar). Essentially, a Y meal on crockery.
No Lindt ball even? What you describe is pretty much standard these days and you can count yourself lucky if the ā€œmealā€ is indeed a proper meal and not some quickly heated pie or something like that.

Pre-departure beverage had for a long time been only water or water and even that is gone since Covid. It used to be 3 or 4 wines but thatā€™s down to one red and one white. ā€œDesertā€ is usually a Lindt ball or, slightly bigger, Lindt bar.

Friendly crew is also optional, about 50:50 chance these days.

While feedback is not required, it is an option that can be provided.
