Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Back in early April, this was the 7am flight (or thereabouts) from ADL – MEL.

I'm assuming that this was a breakfast run, but it's a lovely offering compared to the MEL – CBR flights I've had where they won't even serve me coffee because it'd take too long to brew, so they say.

I'm guessing it all depends on the pre-flight catering preparation, flight length, any additional crew duties at the time, J vs Y and a host of God knows what kinds of other factors involved?

Anyway, looks pretty picturesque on the plate. Thanks, QF.

That said, there's something about airline omelettes or frittatas or whatever this was that never quite hit the mark like home-grown eggs!

An unexpected A330 service (was a 737 yesterday when I checked in).

Meal options were:
Ploughman's Plate, Cauliflower Soup and the infamous Vegetarian pizza.

As per last time, I choose the Ploughman's plate, which I enjoyed even more this time.

Good service and the new priority boarding system worked well.

I'm sorry I just can't get excited about these. Of the options presented, fine, but that's a low bar. Reminds me of coming home from primary school and whinging about being hungry only for my Swedish mum to tell me to fend for myself with the cold meats, cheese and pickled veggies in the fridge. 🙃

I’d just pack all of that into the bread and make a sandwich.

Always find it funny to get served a hot meal on such a short flight. Can be stressful trying to finish without scolding your tongue.

Meal was a Chicken Curry. No other options.

Was tasty enough, but it isn't going to win any awards. Would have taken another Ploughman's plate instead. Service was friendly and efficient.

I'd take those Swedish cold cuts over a Vegemite Sandwich 😁

If QF ever starts serving me Vegemite...

Saturday 25 May QF 157 MEL-AKL 18.30 departure. Ate in the First lounge and wasn’t hungry so didn’t eat much of my meal (can’t even recall what it was) however what was memorable and not in a good way was the lack of service. No drinks before dinner and no top ups or after dinner drinks offered, had to ask for a cup of tea when I got up to go to the toilet. There was a medical issue at the back of the plane however a couple of the staff spent their time congregating at the front galley so not an excuse for the lack of service.

Came back on QF158 on 1 June 14.00 departure. Service was better, drinks offered after dinner but my meal choice a crusted chicken with potatoes and pea puree was dry and pretty tasteless. My friend’s vegetarian pasta dish was gluggy and basically inedible.

I think the standard of business class meals has declined in recent times and is an embarrassment. When I’m paying close to $2,000 return I expect a better meal than something I would get from a shopping centre food court for $10.
