Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I think I've done that on my last three USA-AU J flights and never had a problem getting it.
Never had an issue getting it either- champagne breakfast on an airplane is THE BEST if you ask me :p

I once had a crew member in Qantas First who initially wanted to pour me something stale but then realised that he should open a fresh bottle- of Veuve Grande Dame, no less. I was the only one drinking it over breakfast so he filled me up in the 90 minutes or so before landing as neither of us wanted to let this great drop go to waste. I think I've never left a long haul plane that tipsy after an overnight flight 😅

Yep - I had a similar experience in F last year - except there were a lot of people drinking (Bruno Mars was on the flight, not sure if he had anything to do with it). FA practically insisted on topping up my glass several times.

As a Coeliac, I've been diligently putting Gluten Free meal requests into booking requests.

With so much business class flying - I see the same meal time and time again = Rice with a chicken/chick pea sort of "curry" - it's NOT ONLY Gluten Free; but Kosher, Halal, Hindu, Dairy Free, Taste free and who knows "what-else FREE"

I see my fellow passengers enjoying a wide variety of different meals, and think - I could eat that. I only need Gluten Free (not all the other FREE options) - and the normal tray and menu selection can include any number of GF items.

It is obvious Qantas are keeping costs down with SPML requests - having one meal for a number of SPML categories - but I've decided to give GF a miss.

I now take my chances with onboard options offered - and now enjoy the inflight meal offerings. It's a shame that GF has been bundled together with all the other FREE options....

I'm now a happy flyer eating a wider selection of foods that suit my diet.

There are risks, but I've not had any adverse affects to date !
I am GF and DF, but with flying I never request the special meal. I avoid the obvious cheese plate, but I can handle mild dairy with a pill.
Monday 1/5 QF447 SYD-MEL

Options were: Chicken ciabatta, pea & mint soup, cheese plate. Two travelling companions went for the soup which apparently was very good. I went for the cheese plate as I'd wanted to try this for a while. Overall ok but suffers from coming straight out of refrigeration and could probably do with another type of cheese in addition to the cheddar. Good option for a short flight. (P.S. the bread did arrive after I took the photo, the crust on the bread was more dangerous than the knife).

cutlery looks straight out of the "my first cutlery set" my nephew has. lmao.

Actually looks half decent, im flying QF41 in J later this year, did you have any pics of the food? how was it?
I must say, it was actually really good
food.

The Korean starter was delicious (and I lived in Korea, so can compare), the chicken kiev just simple but SUPER tasty, and the Korean chicken noodles at the end nice as well. I was actually very happy, leaving Neil’s poor salad aside 😂

haha thats ALOT of chicken. Really good to hear about your meal though, def looking forward to it now :)

Can anyone tell me domestic business now is choice of cheese plate: soup or toastie? On 737 Melb Brisbane then delayed Brisbane Cairns. Same good offerings?

Thank you for this post- I’m heading to Dallas this coming Thursday so this info just made my day. Would probably go for exactly the same selections- provided the menu stays the same.

However, none of those mid flight snacks really appeal to me which means I can safely plan to sleep 10 hours or so without having to get up for a snack. If it was NP’s chicken schnitzel sandwich or something like that rather, I would HAVE to get up on between so good to know!

That's essentially how my flight went. After a couple of hours in the FL I was not particularly hungry once on board and did want to get to sleep as quick as possible. Meal service started promptly after an hour or so and once that was done I had the bed made up, rolled over and crashed out for a solid six hours. Wasn't hungry when I woke so watched some TV while dozing on and off and before I knew it the breakfast service started.
