Qantas Business Class meals & menus

HBA-CBR 13:35 QF Link Embraer 190 flight.

Waters offered after boarding. Two meal choices - beef tagine or lamb with mash and veg. I’ve never really been a fan of tagine so went with the lamb.

I enjoyed it. Quite substantial. Lamb was very tender and tasty. But it was very oily. Not sure if it comes out in the pic but half the plate seemed to be swimming in oil. Tasty though so no complaints.

Tagine looked a little dry but pax across the aisle said it was tasty. Good to have some different options at last.

Excellent service from team leader Alexis throughout. Including offers of chocolates, nuts, cheese and crackers and waters a few minutes before descent.

Beef and chicken both on the dry and tough side and potato things with the beef mostly cold. White wine was warm. Leaves were without dressing and remained untouched. Tray seemed to just get in the way and reduce the amount of space.

Service generally pretty ho-hum. They went through the motions, no personalized service and no proactive drink refills etc. Had to ask several times for a glass of water at one stage. Also strange getting two main meals. After waking up, I felt like breakfast the second time around even though it was approaching late afternoon in Sydney.
That whole beef dish just looks dry to me

The menu font has also changed. I much prefer the previous font; this one looks so generic, as if someone had just typed it up and printed it out from MS Word.

QF44 1st December - Denpasar to Sydney
Menu coded as Nov24.
TBD if I'll partake - started boarding just after 10pm local, and I've got INT-INT transfer in SYD. Onto QF3, hopefully.

My guess is that it’s got something to do with the inclusion of the new dietary flags and nobody has cared to do a final look over of the menu, and it’s managed to get out on every menu including F. Small mistakes like this cheapen the experience over time (tray service, kids knives, small plates).

QF3 2nd December - Sydney to Auckland leg only. Sorry NYC-bound travellers, but AKL is as far as I'll get on this trip.
Menu is coded Nov24.
Fair chance of participation in this one.

QF11 J on 16 Nov.
New style tray service, FAs were clearly getting used to it. No perceivable difference to me as a pax, as I recall, but the week before travel was full-on, as have the past two weeks of our Schoolies trip. 😉IMG_5549.jpeg

I had the steak, very tasty.
Opted for no dessert, nighky unusual for me, but none appealed.

My brekky
IMG_5873.jpeg

The Teen’s GF brekky, which seemed to match an item on the menu. She did not like the egg white omelette and ate little of it.

Her main was some kind of prawns with rice; she was asleep when it was served, and wouldn’t have eaten it anyway.

Same menu a few weeks ago. I had the chargrilled chicken - tasty but a little dry. Cheesecake wasn't to my liking, as I found the grapefruit quite overpowering. View attachment 417122View attachment 417123
Hahaha!

I madethe same choices, and thought he same of the chicken.
I scraped off most of thr mandarin gel.

This is a new November menu, was an older menu and the older service style when I flew QF12 on 31/10.

I found the chicken dry, as did @CaptainCurtis in his review. The diced capsicum, etc, would have been better as a sauce. Didn’t touch the potatoes, the snow peas were yummy.

Dessert was nice once I scraped all the fruit gel off the top (I prefer plain cheesecake-moussey concoctions). Then there was more fruit gel below! Danger Will Robinson!

The Teen went to sleep before dinner service amd I didn’t see what her GF meal was.

Forgot to photograph the brekky card.
I had salmon avocado toast, fruit salad and cherry danish. Could have eaten something more substantial as it turned out.

Teen’s GF brekky:

She was not impressed by the mushies. Shrug.
Ate one bite of the omelette and then a snack pack of chippies we’d brought with us. Sigh.

QF80 NRT-MEL 2/12
Champagne (unsure which one of the 3 listed was served) and Sparkling Mineral Water were offered upon boarding.
Unfortunately the tagliatelle was “sold out” by the time the FA reached Row 4, so opted for the Chicken breast. Wasn’t disappointed.
Dessert with ice cream followed.

Breakfast selected was the bacon and egg roll with OJ.
Overall a pleasant flight with excellent service.

QF517 BNE-SYD.

Three options. All an improvement on flights earlier in the year.

Bacon and egg pie for me.

IMG_4706.jpeg

Miss H selected the chicken Schnitty sandwich with bacon and cheese that could have been made by the Colonel himself.

The third option was a salad that never stood a chance up against the other two.

From QF3, SYD-AKL menu posted upthread.
Service started about halfway through the 2.5 hour flight, and was dispensed with suitable efficiency for the flight duration.

Big bowl of Kent pumpkin, saffron and orange soup with caramelised pepitas.
Saffron was lost in there, definite orange notes early on, finishing with a more pronounced pumpkin flavour. Caramelising the pepitas produced a result indiscernible to toasting them, but that wouldn't sound as fancy.

Maggie Beer ice cream

Unintentionally served with a side of a late running SQ285; guessed by others as an NZ plane, I didn't have the heart to say 'tail says no'.

Pardon the quality. Still relatively obvious. 😇
Confirmed by FR24 when taxiing, arrived 6 minutes after us.

QF140 4 December - Auckland to Sydney.

Excellent service, starting with offer of still/sparkling water or champagne (dunno which one). There were some takers for the champers as the bottle was open on the cart during service.
Orders were taken on the ground; I didn't feel like any of the options (1st of 3 flights today), but they were able to source a fruit platter from the back and were able to transfer it to appropriate crockery for service. Just had an apple juice to wash it down. Definitely on the cloudy side.
