I am not too concerned by the cash components as paying even $1,500 for a round trip home is kinda what i expect to pay, the points opening up J class is the main thing for me, I am tall and broad and not designed to do well in economy which is how i have almost always travelled. as I have the points to use I am quite pleased!
I found one Sydney/Hong Kong/London/Newcastle for 180000 points (part Cathay) and return leg Emirates Amersterdam/Dubai/Melbourne/Sydney for 145,500. Not sure the cash for each leg 7174B821-C6E2-4E7D-8810-F37DFC5D4945.pngbecause I don’t have enough points in my account lol.

also don’t have the right dates.

yea so looking at 325,500 points, if i was going to spend that much i'd be trying to upgrade one of the legs i'm on to F :) not that i have 300k points tho

One more go haha lol.

same outbound as your main option (88,700 points). Return from Amsterdam via Cathay to Melbourne (less stops yay) 159,000points. Only issue is getting from Melbourne to home?!

also wrong dates.

ps if you don’t mind let me know the cash?

A round trip "home"? To an Australian a round trip home would involve a starting and an ending point in Australia; is that what you mean?I

It's a century and a half since Australians have used that term about England, but it's interesting that you don't. My Pommy and Scottish ancestors lobbed here in the 1830s, and used to speak of England and Scotland as "home", but Australians grew out of that in WWI.

Cathay is the airline to use, by the way, if you have no care about yout health or that of others; if you depart from Brisbane. If you really want to put yourself in extraordinary danger, go to the UK. I cancelled two business-class CX teats BNE to LHR August, by the way, at least two months ago. Lost a motza.

lol so deep :)

Trip isnt going to be until June next year so hoping the virus world will have calmed down by then. I kinda see them both as home, house / job / spouse here. I have made a few good friends here in Aus but find the friendship here easier to get to a medium level but very rarely reaches the depths of the lifelong mates I have from my UK group, which is a bit psychological but you opened that door!

Besides my folks are in the uk, who doesnt see a place where your mum is cooking as a home, I stand by the original outlook, both homes. :)

Cathay too point rich for what I can amass currently, the J class on Emirates i am MORE than happy with value of point to end product
