Perhaps centenary refers to how long it takes to be served...

I think you're on to something. They're saving it for international travel to resume. It will be the beer they serve in J post departure. Fits the bill with the timing of that service :)

I checked BN J lounge tonight but no dice

Was the look any different when you asked for spirits?
Just to note, spirits are still served in lounges, it was in the air that they have been removed.

Someone I know travelled JQ on the weekend though and they're still selling them onboard, so while that's a different topic to this, it's clearly not a COVID issue or even a galley space issue.

At this rate of blank stares they wont have it for my next flights in over a month from now!

And now the clock has struck midday, I can confirm it's exactly what you'd expect from a James Squire mid-strength lager. A little on the bitter side, quite crisp, not much else - nothing phenomenal but drinkable. Was served with a commemorative coaster.

On the drinks trolley in Economy Class. Didn't notice the cans in Business Class, sitting in 4C.
Already had two on the flight, handed a third, didn't want another toilet trip, brought it home unopened.

In BNE J Lounge and sampling ... agree with sudoer -slightly bitter (not enough to say "hoppy") but otherwise quite unremarkable. Disappointed I didn't get a coaster!!

BD

Just tried this for the first time in the SYD Qantas Club. I actually quite like it! Sure, it's nothing all that special but it's refreshing, bitter and drinkable as others have said.

I wonder if it tastes better when it's poured fresh from the tap, as opposed to drinking it out of a can in the air?

I've not had the opportunity to try it yet. Wasn't in the SYD business lounge when I asked (told it's a QC offering), wasn't onboard and on the return journey the Darwin QC had never heard of it!

I tried it about two weeks ago onboard, didn’t have it at the CBR J lounge just prior so can’t comment on exTap quality. I imagine I will partake in one if it’s onboard in about an hour...

I agree, I quite like it as well. Quite tasty.
