Qantas Classic Reward & Upgrade Devaluation on 5 August 2025

Am I missing something (serious question)? Does this have to be attached to an international itinerary maybe?

QR website says
“Accrual on Qantas domestic flights are only eligible when they are in conjunction with an international flight marketed by either Qantas or Qatar Airways on the same ticket.”

On VA domestic only flights you get zero QPoints but do get Avios

The difference is you can get Qpoints on QF coded flights, even on a QF ticket (eg HBA-MEL-AKL).

You can never get Qpoints on a VA flight (eg HBA-MEL-SFO). It has to be QR codeshare

Yep, which means that QR is not a great program for those who predominantly fly domestic

...

This is 5% of the QRPC Plat initial qualification.

Interestingly (for me), the equivalent on QFF will earn 120SCs, 8.5% of QFF Plat initial qualification.
From the QFF terms: (https://www.qantas.com/au/en/freque...rms-and-conditions.html#earning-qantas-points)
9.1.5 A member of a oneworld Member Airline or Airline Partner loyalty program will not earn that airline’s points or status credits on any Qantas domestic flight if that airline permits its points or status credits to be earned directly or indirectly on any non-Qantas Group flight on the same domestic route (where that domestic flight does not form part of a Qantas marketed international itinerary).
There was further discussion on this but I can't locate the thread ...

Ah, yes, that was the subject of quite a bit of debate when it was brought in, a few years ago. :) Qantas attempting to tell other programs whether or not they can award points etc on Qantas flights (in this case, if there is VA competition). Pretty arrogant. It would be the QRPC T&Cs that could exclude me from earning on QRPC from QF flights (as they apparently do).

Ultimately you are correct, it’s up to QR what is awarded. QF is saying they’re not paying (which is the norm).

Interesting that this isn’t exactly what QR says, so would be keen to see someone test this.
