Qantas Classic Reward & Upgrade Devaluation on 5 August 2025

No.
All of the tables say this:

Effective for Bookings made up to and on 4 August 2025 (including changes made to these bookings from 5 August 2025).

Thanks.
Do tickets only have a 12 month validity? If I want to travel September 2026, I’m guessing I’ll be stuck with the increase?

Reward seats won't be released more than a year out anyway, so the ticket validity part is moot.

No, the ticket validity is what I’d need to potentially move it forward. ie hypothetically purchase a ticket in July 25 for Jun 26, then push it forward to Sept 26
Or am I missing what you’re saying?

But hopefully people don’t get into the habit of hogging CR space just to change later. Those seats don’t necessarily get released back into the CR pool.

For QF, travel on re-issued tickets (at least for domestic, but I suspect similar applies to International) must be completed within 12 months of the original ticket issue. I don't think you'll be able to extend it like you're suggesting

Not sure this is always the case. I've had the last flight on a OWA being in October 2024 when the ticket was originally issued in April 2023. (First flight March 2024).

Yes, I couldn't find the same wording on international ticketing & validity for re-issues, but I'm assuming there will be some restriction. Perhaps it is that travel must commence within 12 months (as yours still fits that possibility). We might be better served though with one of our resident agents weighing in! 🤓

Cheers,
Matt.

What one hopes and what in fact will occur are likely to be very far apart in this instance.

From an individual perspective, the most optimal move is to lock in as many classic rewards seats as one's balance will allow before the deval, especially when the next DSC comes up and that cherry is added on top of the redemptions.

I'll also add there's currently a huge amount of activity in the grey market of points brokers. I don't sell points/miles, but do observe the space. I've never received so many cold call texts from brokers looking to buy Qantas points as has occurred in the last 2 months. I think a lot of people are looking to lock in reward flights atm.

I have plenty of points for multiple trips. Would love to book J/F Classic Reward (NOT Plus) return to LHR in June/July this year to use some points up before the deval, if only there was availability. Flexible on dates in June/July, but as that’s peak season availability seems impossible to come by.
