$300 + $99 Joining fee for new sign ups
$270 1 year renewal for existing members

Discounted Qantas Club Individual membership is available to customers who join as a new member or renew their Qantas Club Individual membership for 1 year at qantas.com or via the Qantas Club Service Centre between 12:01am (AEST) 6 April and 11:59pm (AEST) 11 April 2022.

Interesting point in the T&Cs that I've never seen before;
This offer is not available to Points Club Plus members.
I'm not quite sure what this means to be honest. Like, you can't get it at all, or you can't pay the renewal price?

Usually Qantas treats PCP Qantas Club memberships as equal to paid membership. I've been able to renew QC using the renewal price (just before this discount came around, sadly) even though my current membership was via. PCP.

Makes sense IMHO that it's not available to Points Club Plus members, since they already get complimentary Qantas Club membership. Although, I do get that some people might want to renew for when their PCP expires.

When I tried signing up it asked if I wanted a guest pass for $350. Cant you take a guest in for free on same flight?

I believe it gives you an additional guest. I.E. you’d be allowed 2 guest.

From our experiences regularly visiting Hobart , any discount on Qantas Club membership not really worthwhile because of the irregular hours kept by the lounge there !
Don't even bother trying to enter unless there is a QF metal flight departing within the next 60 minutes - because it will closed.
I was flying HBA to MEL late february and the queue waiting to enter the Qlounge was longer than the one for the departing Jetstar flight in the adjacent holding area !

Might be a silly Q, but I have 1 year and a bit remaining on my QC membership, is there any 'time' restriction on the renewal i.e. does your QC membership need to be expiring soon? Couldn't see anything about it in the literature. Thanks :)

No

For what it's worth, I'm PCP - but also Gold, and was also a paying Qantas Club member before I had both of those. Had no problems paying for a 1 year renewal just now at the discounted rate. I'm sure it'll come in handy... in 2027, at the earliest. 😂

Just keep good records to prove it when you inevitably have to rogue the toss in 2027!

You may get to lifetime Gold before it is needed ;)

Perhaps I'm missing something here but why would anyone sign up for a Qantas club membership? After all, they would need to be visiting the lounge about a dozen times flying either JQ or QF for the cost savings on the lounge visits to really pay off. Contrast that with taking advantage of the annual DSC offer where you can hit Gold easily for around $1000 (particularly when there is a fare sale going). And for that you get benefits the Qantas Club doesn't provide such as complimentary seat selection, additional baggage allowance, higher upgrade priority, priority boarding and security. And the cherry on top? You get wider access to lounges with a QF Gold card than you do a QF Club membership!

Certainly, I'd make the argument that if you travel domestically a couple times a year your best bet is actually to use a points upgrade to J, which often is of very marginal costs for the added benefits (i.e. access to the Qantas Business lounge and not the pub, more baggage allowance, priority everything, and of course a better seat and onboard service). And best of all? You don't have to spend a dime on those upgrades since it's all points based!

There are many scenarios where Qantas Club makes sense. As you say, visiting about 12 times a year is a good number. That's just six domestic return trips, and in my case, that's most likely to be Brisbane to Sydney or Melbourne.

Best case scenario on a Red eDeal is 180 SCs from that travel, and that's if it's all Melbourne where the earn rate is highest. Even with DSC, that's 360 SC total - but in my case, unlikely, as I can't race out and book a year's worth of travel in a week, as I simply don't know what I'll be doing and when. 360 is nowhere near earning or retaining Gold: but in this case, for just $270, I can make the experience much the same as Gold - and on a per-trip basis, that averages out to $22.50 per departure. By the time I've had a meal / coffee in the lounge, I've got my money's worth, so it works for me.

You mentioned extra baggage - and with Qantas, you do actually get that as Qantas Club, so again, less difference to Gold. You get priority check-in too, and in Brisbane, you can use Premium Lounge Entry, which is the domestic terminal's only active priority screening lane.

You also mentioned complimentary seat selection as Gold (presume you mean international) - but it's long been free for Silver too, and now if you book direct on the Qantas site, it's free even for Bronze. So again, less appeal for status.

On higher upgrade priority, not something I really need as I prefer to redeem rather than upgrade (which means I earn more SCs as a Points Club member), but each to their own.

I guess the use of Qantas Club is best with those who travel more than just occasionally, but not enough to reach Gold where you get it for free.

In my case, I'm currently both Gold and Points Club Plus (which grants free Qantas Club anyway), but know that won't be the case forever, so it's nice knowing that even if I lose both, I'll still have lounge access for the years beyond at a very cheap price. 😊

Hi AFF. I would like to renew at the discount rate. Can I do this through AFF as usual and if so, how? Many thx.

According to the offer T&Cs:

Individual membership does not include any new memberships renewed as part of a Group or Corporate membership scheme...
Qantas Club Corporate, Group or Partner memberships and Annual Guest Cards are not eligible for this bonus offer.

My partner has an evening flight to MEL about 7pm. Is it worth me guesting her in with a lounge voucher for a bit to eat before the flight? I hear there are no hot meal options though – so how does it compare to Launceston, which essentially provides a bottle of Boag's and a cracker at the best of times?

If your partner's flight is with QF then in theory the lounge should be open at least an hour prior to departure. The lounge itself is fairly small certainly much smaller than MEL, SYD, ADL or BNE lounges and even DRW and CNS if that's of any comparison. The food on offer is somewhat limited, slightly more than crackers and cheese but not too much more. Certainly if your aim was to have a proper meal before departure you won't get it here. On the bright side there are nice apron views and can be a bit of a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the main departure area.

Here's what the lounge looked like when I visited back in April:

What matters I think is what your lounge voucher situation looks like. Are they about to expire soon? In that case it's better to use the voucher at a lounge than simply let it expire. On the other hand, if you think you'll be departing from a major Australian port it may serve you well to hold onto those and deploy them in those lounges.
