Qantas Club: 770AUD for what?

There are not many places I can shower before getting on a flight except the qantas lounges

Mr!

I'm also a +1 on that... Oftan I take later afternoon flights, so I have usually checked out of my hotel, and I don't have many interstate or OS customers who would let me use their showers (if one is even available).

Also econgdon as for the QP being a status thing serving no purpose, try saying that when your plans go up in smoke, and \ or you have a long time to kill at an airport for some reason or another... Even domestically sometimes things happen which changes your short stop over into one lasting 5+ hours... QP is worth every cent at that point in time as it means that I can still work...

Re: Qantas Club: 770AUD for what reason in domestic market?

I travel frequently within Australia. Its business and quick and I have no time to waste away in lounges. If I am travelling with staff that's different, BUT they couldn't get access to a lounge anyway.
Internationally its different, BUT if travelling business class access is granted free.. SO WHY JOIN ?? My main trips are from HBT or SYD and MEL and no lounge in HBT despite a new airport building, where I could use it. I think it is a status thing of little use domestically

Haha... your take on flying (and your staff) reminds me of my previous employer...
QP gives you a +1 so you could take staff into the lounge with you, assuming they're flying that day also. But that would be "wasting away" time and we can't have that ;)
And unfortunately not everyone has the luxury of travelling in J internationally, hence the usefulness of QP.
Are you doing overnighters domestically? that QP queue is nice and short if you have checked baggage/flying Y

With those kind of travel habits (Always J) you should make QF gold in no time at all!

Also note that QC membership is suspended if you make gold... Time not used is tagged onto when/if you drop back down to Silver.

Re: Qantas Club: HELP PLEASE! You're not a Kiwi r u?

Skonig, follow the instructions in the thread on this topic in the Gold Membership Privileges.

http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/com...es/save-200-qantas-club-membership-10788.html

I hope Skonig had more joy than I did following that link to the AFF Qantas Club Corp scheme. The link cheerfully claims :D: "The scheme is now "up and running" and all frequentflyer.com.au's GOLD subscribers can take advantage...". Yeah right. Not if you are a Gold subscriber resident in NZ . Then you can sit outside the door thank you very much. Although I was initially told it was silly old Qantas that blocks kiwis from joining QC under a corporate scheme, eventually, after I found the app form specifically for NZ residents on the QF website, the AFF admin admitted: "Our QF Club corporaqte scheme specifically excludes NZ!" He sounds almost proud of the fact! As I remarked to him, go the ANZAC spirit eh?

Cairnsexpat,

Do you really think that admin would deliberately mislead you with this :?: If you answer yes then IMHO you are in the wrong place :!: This site is there to help everyone and occasionally, like everything else in life, something slips through the net. Knowing admin I believe that this issue will be resolved for the future. ie the problem for NZ residents will disappear OR the lack of availability for NZ residents will become obvious on the site. I am sure this is a QF issue rather than an AFF issue.

I’d heard there was an issue with NZ residents. I think the problem is that it’s an Australian corporate scheme and NZ prices for corporate membership are a little less.

If you pay in AU$, will they accept an NZ postal address? Can you try listing an Australian “home address” and a New Zealand “postal address”?

I wonder what ever happened to TheScotsman - he posted 9 times on the same day in 2008 and then nothing...perhaps he is still doing the MEL/PER returns weekly, but I'm sure he'll be enjoying the QC :)

The issue is outside of Admin's control. It is Qantas that restrict joining to corportate schemes of Australia. Anyone other than those with NZ addresses are permitted to join; this isn't by choice of the AFF scheme but a general Qantas restriction of membership. A person with an NZ address is limited to corporate schemes in NZ I believe

Re: Qantas Club: HELP PLEASE! You're not a Kiwi r u?

This is correct. For some reason Qantas specifically exclude NZ residents from (as far as I know) ALL Australian Qantas Club Corporate schemes, not just our AFF scheme. I do apologise, but it is really beyond our control.

I have updated the information about our QF Corporate Club Scheme to reflect this.

Regarding Cairnsexpat specific case, as soon as he brought this to my attention (and prior to his post), I did offer him a full refund of his GOLD membership fees. He has since accepted, and has been given a refund.

Hey Bill

In answer to your question: no. I don't try to guess people's intentions, but the resultant impression I got was of being misled. Prob just ambiguous communication because admin has now clarified to say that ALL aussie-based QC corp schemes exclude NZ residents, which is a bit different to saying OUR [AFF] scheme specifically excludes NZers. QF only knows why they have this policy. There must be any number of expat aussies working for aussie companies in NZ. No response to my enquiry from QFF but wasn't really expecting one.
Resolved in the near future? You believe that, but admin says it is a known issue and there is no indication anybody wants to change it. My Gold AFF membership has been cancelled and the $35 subs kindly refunded. End of story.

Yes. Only country excluded (by Qantas) is NZ

I'm still here!
The flights PER-MEL every week for about 9 months just about finished me off, predictions of miserable delays in Perth came true and I was soon cursing the name of Qantas at every opportunity.

Thanks to all the advice on here (and some gentle ribbing on Scots' spending habits) , I didn't join the club but soon enough I got my Gold membership, especially when I threw in a trip to Finland and Japan mid-2008. So I did come to enjoy the occasional trip to the lounge to get a snack and a freshen up and would mayeb consider paying up next time to get earlier access to the lounge.

I didn't imagine that my original post would last so long!
