I will fly Jetstar Asia (economy) from BKK to SIN in January... I'm SG, will I be able to access the lounge in BKK ?

Thanks

Is not totally clear but QFF seems to define Jetstar as Jetstar Australia only. Thus for an SG no access.

WPs (Platinum holders) presently have access under AnyTime rules. From Feb-11 revised rules require them to be travelling on JQ/3K/VF so a WP would be OK.

Looks like no for Jan until they put the new T&C's removing anytime access on:

From 1 February 2011, to access Qantas Domestic or International lounges, Platinum members must be travelling the same day on a flight that shows a Qantas (QF), a Jetstar Airline (Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K) or Valuair (VF)) or a oneworld® flight number on your ticket.

Does Jetstar Airline count for QP/SG members?

Others can clarify.

[-]As you are an SG I do not believe so.[/-]

That was incorrect, see markis10's/oz_mark's post below.

It seems the rules have changed.

As BKK is a QP you will have access, as all QPs are open to JQ customers as per the QP website and it's not a partner, associated or one world lounge AFAIK, see under Jetstar access for QP, it was recently changed to include 3K.

I am going to come down on the side of 'I think so' :)

Qantas Club members travelling with Jetstar* are welcome in any Qantas Club or QantasLink lounge. Simply show your boarding slip and Qantas Club card, or Platinum or Gold Qantas Frequent Flyer card, at the lounge reception. You may also invite one guest who need not be travelling. If you are travelling without luggage you can check in for your Jetstar* flight in most Qantas Club lounges. When you fly Jetstar,* you won't be able to access partner, associated^ or oneworld airline lounges.
Other Qantas Club privileges, such as priority baggage, do not apply when travelling on Jetstar.*
Note: Lounge check-in for Jetstar is 40 minutes before departure. If you arrive within 40 minutes of scheduled departure, go directly to the Jetstar check-in counter. You need to check-in for Jetstar flights at least 30 minutes before scheduled departure otherwise your ticket will be forfeited. No refund or free transfer is available. You will be required to book and pay for a new ticket if you wish to travel.

* Jetstar refers to Jetstar Airline (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K) and Valuair (VF).
^ Christchurch Associated lounge access is a stand alone agreement between Qantas and Jetstar. Associated lounge access in other ports is subject to standard Associated lounges conditions of entry.

A good change IMHO, it always stuck out like a pimple on a baby b*m that 3K pax had no access whilst JQ did.

Given more and more Australian services are being operated by 3K, it needed to be done. I'm sure the money saved by paying cheap foreign crews to do an Australian's job makes up for it!

This may seem a weird question but curiosity has got the better of me.

As the son a lifetime Qantas club member (Joined in the early 90s maybe 80s??) is it possible to get subsidized membership or any other benefits? I know it's a long shot but hey thought I'd ask!

Also New Zealand services (SIN/AKL).

I don't know the answer, but could you sign up using the partner rates on the QF site, and use your parents QFF number when it asks you for it?

There's not that many flights with actual 3k flight numbers around Australia though

Good to see a genuine enhancement to QFF benefits. Will help JetstarAsia be more attactive to QFFers than say AirAsia if using LCC airlines.

I remember being stuck in SIN for 10 hours when SIN-HKT 3K flight delayed and playing dumb trying to access QP with no luck.

Good to hear. JQ changed my JQ110 flight to 3K111 (SIN-PER) which would've meant a long wait for me at SIN. This really makes travelling around SEA on 3K much more attractive now.

I shall look into it! It's a shame my preferred carrier is SQ where as my father is Qantas. Hell he has even chosen to fly Jetstar to MEL-HCMC for a only a few hundred less than SQ about 7 times this year. I know which I prefer!

thanks for your assistance :D

Good to hear, as 3K is the only way to for me to go from SIN to HK when I do an open jaw flight on Qantas. In October, I had completely forgotten that I couldn't use the Qantas Club in Singapore and headed out a few hours early as I was crook. The Dragon took pity on me and let in. Very strange during the day - all the lights in the seating area to the left were off, and the staff only took orders for soup and sandwiches (no buffet) - but were very pleasant.

My only complaint was that the wifi was down, but hey, a lot nicer than sitting out in the main terminal.

At last!!!

Trying to keep SC going and flying the required number of flights means you really do need to fly J* Asia at least 2 times when based here in Asia.

And to get those SC you have to fly their highest travel (currently 5400THB one way plus taxes); and prior to this change, you couldn't get lounge access unless you were WP.

I've flown CX instead as it gets lounge access and the SCs as well, but will now throw J* back into the mix.:)

I always, always take bathers when transiting through SIN. There's nothing as good as having a swim if you have more than a couple of hours, especially if there's a delay. The pool is usually almost empty, and the pool side service is brilliant. Less than two hours, and I just shower in the lounge, but honestly, the pool is nicer.
